My husband and I were adopted by a stray. She had a sad start to life as a barn cat to a woman who wanted a mouser, Misty lived outdoors until she came home with us at approximately 2 -3 months of age.

She's now fully vacinated and scheduled for her spay in a week. One ver figures shes 4 months old, the other thinks 5 months old.

I've made the decision she's an indoor/ outdoor but outdoor only for walks on a leash. I'm finding this transanstion difficult for her. After I take her out she becomes extremely vocal and hangs around the door. I'm feeling bad for her. Any suggestions on making this easier on her?

Vets are just guessing on age and my Rocket they underestimated by at least a month just because she was so tiny and malnurished.

That said, my guess is she is used to outside and not quiet understand the parameters of her new life. She will get used to it eventually. Mine have curfews and even after a year Rocket tries to get back outside after curfew (which is sun based since she can't read a clock). She'll cry a little vut I just play with her or get her away from the door with a treat and she quickly refocuses onto the internal household instead of going outside. Now she is really schedule based si she may have just fallen into a habit of come inside, eat dinner, meow at door and Mom plays. But the bottom line is I know shes meowing for attaention more than legit upset. Yours will get there too, for now play or treat or dinner after outside to get her away from the door and focused inside would be my advice.
