Hello, everyone! This past week I've found myself having so much fun taking pictures of my cats for Halloween, one of my favorite times of the year. So I decided to make this thread so I and anyone else who wants to can share their holiday pictures. Whether the picture was taken just to have it or you're like me who wants to improve their photography skills, feel free to post your own pictures. I'm hoping to keep this up for every holiday. You can add holidays too if there's one you celebrate that I don't. All I ask is that you post pictures only when that holiday is near. I know I'm a little early myself, but I just can't wait.

Also, I would be more than happy to hear any opinions on my own photography skills. I have yet to take a class for my camera, but am trying to improve on my own until I'm able to do so. Critique is welcomed and if anyone is curious, my camera is a Canon EOS Rebel SL1.

Here's my Halloween pictures!

So I ended up posting more than I meant to. Sorry about that. Despite the 34 pictures posted here, there are more. A lot more. Some of my dog too though I somehow suspected that that wouldn't belong.

Thank you so much! I'm no expert either and am fairly new with the camera. I just got it towards the end of summer. It really does most of the work. I just choose the basic settings and where to position the camera. Photography is a fantastic hobby though my cats make everything look great. Thanks again! I'm sure my cats appreciate the compliment.

Thanks! I'm a big tortie fan too. I didn't know that until I got Ember though.

That's funny -- me too!  We had just lost a beloved baby to FIP and I was looking to adopt a kitten to fill the void in our home, so I called a friend who did rescue and told her the only requirement was that the kitten needed to fit in with a large "furmily".  Right away, she named a cat and we made arrangements to meet at the Petco where she did adoptions.  The kitten was 11 months, older than I was really looking for, and I'd never thought about a tortoiseshell before, mostly because I'd never met one.  All I knew was that we had aching hearts and a place in our home, and this kitten needed a loving permanent place to live.  Almost 13 years later, Tarifa is our eldest and very much loved.  And I'm firmly in the tortoiseshell camp

They are amazing cats. Ember has a special place in my heart. We were never suppose to have three cats. Ember's mother showed up pregnant and we ended up keeping the kitten. So she's been with us since she was born. She's great though stubborn and a bit troublesome. She tends to have some problems and we've come close to having cat fights, but in general she's a great cat. If only she was nicer towards others. I fell in love with a kitten, but even if I was able to have a fourth cat right now, I don't know if she'd take to him. She's finally getting better with the dog and they're no where near being friends.

Yeah, adapting takes time.  Our Mainey man, adopted at 14 after being an "only cat" all his life, took about a year to fully acclimatize to our multi-cat family; but adoption is for life in our family, so we were determined to make it work, and it did.  I had to pry him and our other dominant male apart with a broom once or twice, as they were a rolling ball of furry fury; but no lasting harm was done, and in time, they actually liked to curl up close together with the other male, who was a friend to all cats.

I kinda want to get my boys Halloween costumes but my boyfriend told me I really don't need to torture the cats.  *pouts* Yeah, he's probably right and they'd get mad and poop in my shoe or something.  But they would look so darn cute!  Connor is black and Murphy is an orange tabby - Halloween colors!!!

IMHO, your BF is right and I've never understood why some people feel compelled to do this when cats are so absolutely gorgeous in and of themselves (and do NOT need clothes!).  Hope he prevails in this.

That's the look I got for a full 2 days after I took him to get his rabies shot.  So I made my bf take them to get neutered and I picked them up.  Connor wouldn't even look at him for almost a week.  If John tried to touch, Connor would literally stick his nose in the air, turn his back, and strut away.  Actually strut.  It was pretty hilarious.

You're pictures are really good.  I especially like the pictures of the white cat with the witch hat.

Here's a pic of my Basil.

@Tarasgirl06: I'm glad you had the patience to deal with that! I'm stressing myself out with my own improving situation. I can't help but wonder if they'll ever be truly happy living together. They've gotten a lot better though and Ember is much more tolerant of the dog.

@Alicia88: I have to agree about the costumes. Cats are adorable and you'd really probably just traumatize them. I got lucky with mine. None of them showed much interest in what I was putting on their heads. Ember was first and she kept tipping her head to knock it off, but eventually she got over it and let me put it on without moving. Frost kept moving at first. Ash just didn't care. Stella, the dog, was terrified of the hat, the skeleton, and a lantern that I tried to use. And I don't have any pictures of her with them other the skeleton which was only allowed to get so close. I tried to put a shirt on Ember just to see what she'd do and all she did was flop down on the ground. I haven't don't it since.

Fortunately, none of them hold grudges! Even after bathing them, they don't hold anything against me. They aren't very cuddly though. Ember will lay on my lap. Or anything on my lap. Frost will too. Ash only likes to be petted.

@Tamu708: Thank you! The white one is Frost. My pretty boy. Honestly, I haven't met anyone who doesn't love him. He's sweeting, loving, curious, and pretty. Your cat is beautiful, of course.

Love conquers all, or at least a lot, IMHO. And as I may have mentioned, in this family, adoption is for life, so patience and love are key.
