Since I found this site in 2008, I have been Three-Cat-Owner, but this morning, I became Two-Cat-Owner.  Dusty had been diagnosed and had surgery last December for a fibro sarcoma (probably from injection site).  He somewhat bounced back, but this summer, began losing about a pound a month.  He was also hyper-thyroid.  Last couple of days the eating and drinking slowed to pretty much a stop.  I was going to try to gather my wits to take him in this morning and send him peacefully and humanely on his way, but I've never been present for this before, and was terrified.  Dusty passed - it appears peacefully, and I hope to God so - early this morning, before I could take him.  It was his time.  We are so very very sad.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your Dusty. What a beautiful boy. I'm glad he passed on over the Rainbow Bridge on his terms and in the home he loves and where he lead a lovely life. Dusty is now free of pain and illness. He is happy and running free.

He went on his own terms, at home and near all those he loved, he is surely at peace knowing he left such a mark in this world and that he was so loved and cared for. The time on this earth is finite for all living things, we must live it to the fullest and feel blessed to share our life's journey with those that make up our families and put joy into our hearts. The love we feel for these sweet, innocent little souls fills our lives and our hearts, and that same heart is broken when they have to go. Although they take that piece of our heart with them for comfort, they leave behind a piece of theirs to bind themselves to us in a spiritual way now that their physical presence is gone. We can use this bond, and our precious memories, to comfort ourselves in our time of grief, and in time will find peace once again of knowing they are still nearby and that 'essence' that is them will be with us for as long as we live, for like love it is without end and can never betaken from us.

Dusty would never want you to live your life in sadness, he only wants happiness and sunshine to fill your life. Use that legacy of love he left you to keep him alive in your heart, he would be honored if you would pass on that love to another little soul who so desperately needs someone like you. Do good in his name,  donate to help those who can't afford vet care at your local veterinarian office, pay for the adoption of a cat that has waited so long to be adopted to bring it a forever home. These things we do in our little one's names bring us comfort and make us feel a little better knowing we helped a soul in need.

My heart goes out to you, thank you for letting the world know of this brave little boy. It helps to release some of the pain by seeking comfort from others who have followed the same path, bless you for sharing your life and your home with Dusty, please give your remaining little ones a kiss from me, I'm so very sorry you are all feeling the pain of a broken heart. Take care.......RIP beautiful Dusty, the world is a darker place with your passing, but the shining star that is your light in the heavens will bring comfort and light up the hearts of those who miss you so terribly much. Gentle dreams, sweet Dusty!

So sorry that you lost your cute little boy, but please find comfort in the fact that he made the decision for you, I know it might not sound like a lot right now, but looking back with time you will realize that he helped save you from putting him down. He was ready to go, and is whole and healthy again, and you will see him one day again.

Rest in peace sweet boy, you were loved and made an impact here on this Earth.

God Bless....
