I will start a new thread about cat food ingredient sourcing because the other thread that was recently re-started is a bit old.

I think it's time cat owners politely petition pet food manufacturers to verify the source of their ingredients, i.e. the muscle meat they include in their recipes.

While I am not totally comfortable with food products sourced from China, mostly because of a notorious lack of quality control, I would feel confident about buying pet food products from international sources if the U.S. producers/distributors would do what Nike did in the 1990s and adopt a quality control and fair practices code.  I am not knee jerk "buy American!"  There are two brands I trust that are transparent that their recipes include meats from off-shore;  Natural Value and Newman's Own.  My cat also eats Purina and I want Purina to be transparent about their sources/suppliers for their higher-priced labels such as Pro Plan True Nature and Purina Beyond.  Imported ingredients are perfectly acceptable.  I'll bet there are a few folks here on TCS that buy prosciutto for themselves and caviar for their cats.  LOL.

It's not going to happen, especially form a pet food giant like Purina. This is why a lot of us feed raw that we make and source meats ourselves.

There was a documentary called "Pet Food: A Dog's Breakfast" that was mysteriously cancelled from airing on CNBC then pulled from air altogether. It's reappeared on YouTube which is good news.

Even better news is that there's a new documentary coming out called "Pet Fooled" which exposes the inner workings of the commercial pet food industry. I cannot wait to see it.

Ah Purina.

A complaint letter:

But spare a thought for us Australians, PFIAA is why we don't dare feed out cats Australian food.
