Hello, thank you so much for looking at this thread. My cat Lucky was a stray. She appeared to be injured so I took her to the vet the next day. She did have an old trama, but healed already and had a limp. Over the next week she lost her eye site. I took Lucky to my local family vet for a confirmation on her eye site. She did go blind, had 2 cracked teeth, arthritis, but over all she was healthy and active. It's been a year now since I took Lucky in, and her health is declining. About a week ago I noticed she wasn't eating or using the litter box. I made an appointment real quick for her. She had a fever and cloudy pee. Lucky also had lost some weight. The vet ran some test, but nothing was alarming. We were sent home with some medication for a uti. She started getting better. Lucky currently only eats wet food now. She is now back to her happy gluttonous self. But yesterday I found some blood drops on the floor. Tonight she had a nose bleed. It lasted a minute. Afterwards she went back to eating like nothing happened. I am very concerned for Lucky's health. I don't know what to do. Any advice would be great. I am hoping to schedule another appointment for Lucky as soon as possible. I'm hoping the vet will be able to provide more answers then "I don't know."

Just watch and see if there are any more blood drops coming from the nose.  Keep her on an all-wet food diet, preferably a wet food that is pate variety, not one with lots of pieces and chunks.  They have wheat gluten, and the pate does not.  It is more meaty and healthier.  It does sound like she is getting better in the past week.  If there aree no more nose bleeds, it my have just been an overactive sneeze, but if there are more, she could have a problem in her nose.  Just watch very carefully and give her lots of love.

If you don't have a flowing drinking bowl/fountain for her I'd get one. Personally, I think people jump on wet food very quickly to hydrate instead of providing a more appealing water source. My cats are constantly drinking from fountains throughout our yard and in the house. They have never had any problems with UTIs and if Lucky was a stray she is probably more comfortable drinking from moving water. Not to say wet food is a bad choice or solution but moving water equals happy kitties.

If you haven't had any blood work done. You could do a diagnostic blood panel (my vet charges $250) to see if there are any abnormalities in her blood that could give you a more definitive answer. My vet said that cats can get weird random illnesses that just can't be diagnosed without blood work because they hid symptoms. You could also look into a higher protein, grain free or limited ingredient diet in case it is some type of food allergy.

Thank you. She's doing much better now. The vet ran some more test and she's still healthy on paper. The nose bleeds have stopped. Lucky still won't touch the dry food. But she loves the wet food. She is starting to act normal again, climbing on the bed and using the litter box. The vet just gave me an estimated age of 10 years old. It's still a mystery and just praying for the best.
