I have been told that feeding raw can be dangerous for humans which wasn't surprising but they said that it's dangerous because the cat sheds it in their feces and then a human can be affected. Seems to me like simple hygiene could prevent this issue. Like washing your hands after cleaning the litter box. But I was wondering, if the cat tracked a little bit (like an unnoticeable amount..like tiny tiny particles) and you somehow got it on your hand and somehow ingested it could you get sick? I guess my question is how much do you actually need to consume to get sick? Assuming the person is in good health. I hear about people eating contaminated foods and getting sick but in those cases the person ATE at least a mouthful of contaminated food. I am very fascinated with the raw diet and it's the only thing my kitten will eat right now but someone raised the concern and I can't find any answers in my google searches.

If you feed a raw diet to your cats, you just have to be extra careful with hygiene, especially around food prep/bowls/utensils and the litterbox. You can also minimise the risk by feeding a commercial raw diet that's undergone a process called High Pressure Pasteurisation (HPP) :)[article="31673"][/article][article="31714"][/article]
