Hi, so I got a 10 week old kitten about 3 weeks ago and when I first got her she was 8 weeks and would use the litter box perfectly fine she didn't make a mess. Now about 1 week ago she goes poop and while she's digging she backs up and steps on her poop and I get really frustrated because I need to clean her paws immideatly or else she shakes them and poop all over the walls, floors and furniture. She doesn't let me clean her up with a moist tissue paper so basically her going number 2 is a huge pain and I can't control my anger when she does that. I'm thinking about just picking her up as soon as she finishes pooping and covering it myself. Just to avoid her stepping on it. Most of the time I end up covering her poop anyway because she steps on it and while she's digging she shakes her paw. So I remove her. Is there any way to get this habit out of her? Or how can i make her avoid stepping in the poop

I'm with talkingpeanut talkingpeanut . What do you mean? She's just a kitten and isn't doing it deliberately. What kind of litterbox setup do you have? Does she need a bigger litterbox? I gave my small cat a big one to give her enough room in case she needs it.

I hope your kitten figures it out and stops it.

Screaming really won't help. You want her to feel comfortable and she doesn't know she's doing anything wrong.

I am glad to hear that you're not hitting her, of course.
