My cat has been diagnosed with this benign tumor, fibroameloblastoma.   The only cure is to remove it completely with surgery.  Virginia Tech says it will cost 4000$.   I can't afford that and also they say she might not be happy with almost all of her lower jaw missing and might not eat again ever.

Has anyone else ever had a cat with this tumor?

Even if money was no object, I would not do the surgery.  It would cause her a lot of pain and suffering.  My opinion is to keep her as happy and confortable as you can for as long as she has.  A friend of mine had a similar surgery where they took bone from her leg to replace the nissing part of the jaw bone.  The operation went well, recovery was long as hard, and then she developed the same cancer in her lungs.  She is dying now.  Had she known, she would have chosen NOT to have the surgery, and skip that suffering, and enjoyed the time she had left.

Here is a long thread which we all found most informative, written my a member whose cat had a malignant tumor in a similar place.  She chose not to do surgery, and this is the story of his final journey, which was not unpleasant and which was full of love.   Remember, it is the QUALITY of  life that matters, not the QUANTITY.  You said your cat's tumor is BENIGN, so it may not grow quickly or cause other problems.

Thanks for the advice!   They tell me it is non cancerous and complete removal will be curative but she also won't have a lower jaw.  She is only two years old.  That is what I plan on doing, keeping her comfortable. I just feel bad for not being able to do it but I don't think she would be happy without her lower jaw.  She has had two surgeries already to reduce it but it keeps growing back, they can't get it all out without this 4000$ surgery which includes a ct scan.    She hasn't done the best after the surgeries and I just fell like she wouldn't be happy without her jaw.

Thanks
