I was having a conversation with my friend a few days ago and I asked how how a certain restaurant was. She replied "It was OK, but I do not get that excited about food."

My reaction - :thud:

This is me -

I get unreasonably excited about food. My weight would be a lot lower and my wallet a lot heavier if I didn't.

Do you get excited about food?

It depends on what the food is. if it's something I really like then yes but if it's something I just like a little or not at all then no. I couldn't care less about most breakfast foods so if someone were to ask me if I wanted to go out to breakfast, I'd likely pass. Sleep is better. I don't care about dessert so nope- not excited at all about that. A good slice of pizza? Yup. A good steak or burger cooked just right? OK. Some good crusty bread with some good cheese? Yes please. You're adding a glass of a nice red wine with that? OK. I won't try to stop you!

THERE'S A REASON I LOOK LIKE THIS!!!!!

I eat when I'm happy, I eat when I'm sad, I eat when I'm bored, I eat when I'm bad. (Hmmm, evidently I'm a poet. A bad poet, but a poet.)

For the most part, when I know somebody has brought a cake into work (depending on who baked it), I purposely stay out of our cafe....it's not safe.  Similarly, when our admin assistant puts candy in the basket out front, I usually (but not always, unfortunately) walk around the back of the office to leave the building or use the restroom. Feeding my face with miniature Milky Ways kind of defeats the whole purpose of walking, you know?
And when she puts in those little packages of peanut M & Ms, well.........
 and
. My life is a constant

Most people eat to live. I live to eat. Sad, but true.

(Love those pictures, Karen!)

NO, not really. My diet is restricted by eating gluten free. I only eat what I prepare, or what I know I can trust..

:yeah: Food loses a lot of its appeal when you know you have to read every label carefully first  (...and adding veganism into the picture definitely doesn't help matters :lol3: )

I live for food.

Sadly a lot of my favourites disagree with me (major stomach issues) which makes me incredibly sad. Sometimes I eat them anyway and just suffer the consequences (I often feel rubbish even when I don't so I might as well enjoy them!)

Yet still I live for food.

I do not understand people who have no health problems who can take or leave food.

Mmmmm food.

There are some things I miss eating like coconut, nuts, strawberries. I can't eat them because of intestinal problems. The other thing is gluten free limits my diet also. For the most part, I am over cakes, pies and other things made with wheat and grain products. Last Christmas though I couldn't quit thinking about fruity cake and determined to find a way to make one I could eat. I got my hands on a recipe which wa my aunt's for a refrigerator fruitcake made with graham cracker crumbs. I tried to find gluten free crumbs or graham cracker, but couldn't. Finally I used my own gluten free flours and make some cookies. I used them for the crumbs and proceeded to make the recipe which produced two loaf sized cakes. I did put nuts, ground very fine. I chewed a lot during the eating process and managed to get finished with the 2 cakes with no stomach issues. My husband loved them. I thought I had "died and gone to Heaven."

SAME!!!

My mom used to tell us kids she ate to live but we, lived to eat.

So very very true.  Food is a joy!

I have over the years stopped doing the "eat for every reason" emotional eating but that hasn't helped me lose any weight LOL

Not as much as I used to be.  I used to get excited about food and had a really bad sweet tooth.  I was also addicted to soda, not diet either.  As I have gotten older I have gotten past that.  I think a lot of it is that now that it's usually just me the work of cooking just doesn't seem to be worth it.  I also don't bake anymore and I'm not going to buy a whole pie or cake in the bakery.  They do often sell those in single servings and I often do buy one of the single serves

If it's traditional rich fruitcake you're after, I have a couple of great g/f recipes that I'm happy to share :) I'll have to dig them out sometime. I may not get that excited about food, but dad definitely does, and since he had to go g/f I've been the only baker in the house for him ;) (mum can't cope with it at all  )

We all have different things that excite us but I do love a good meal.  Love a good breakfast place and if there are doughnuts around they won't last long if I'm around.  One of the things I especially enjoy about travel is getting to try something new and I love to find a good local restaurant wherever I go.  Really make use of the various travel review sites whenever I'm away from home to help me find some good spots.  My wife always jokes that one of the things I like most about Vegas is the food...and she may not be wrong.

Side note...I was really excited by a breakfast spot near me when someone sent me a copy of their breakfast menu.  I went to try it out one Saturday morning only to discover that the breakfast menu on the weekend was completely different from the Monday through Friday menu.  Boy was I disappointed because I didn't see any of the list of items I'd wanted to try.

Nope, I don't get excited about most foods. Haven't really found that much that tastes good enough to get excited about.

I am the exact opposite of excited about food. I think eating is a pain in the ass. I'll eat if I'm bored, but usually if I'm doing things I go so long without eating that I get faint and then grumpily cram whatever is closest by into my face while being bitter about not photosynthesizing. I've said for years that I don't care about flying cars, but I wish the future had brought me a meal pill by now. Most days I eat a smoothie with yogurt, protein powder, frozen berries, a banana, and a bit of chocolate, and that is great for my nutritional needs, but even the time it takes to make that is just a pain. Eating is boring and repetitive. I really want to try soylent.

I do like SOME food. I just wish I could only have to eat if k was going to have a particularly nice meal with friends. The fact I have to do it multiple times a day, every day, uuuuuugh.

That said, I really love tea. Bring on the tea.

A local restaurant just started doing brunch on the weekends and sent out their menu. One of the items is a potato chip and sharp cheddar omelet. I'm fascinated by this and I'm going to have to try it some time. :lol3:

Sounds good to me!  Too bad I'm not close.

I am a total foodie. I talk about food, dream about food, love eating it & trying new recipes. At every job I have, I ask about pot lucks & what kind of food is going to be included in meetings. People always associate me with food.

Unfortunately my tastes aren't really satisfied anymore. I changed my diet about a year & half ago & don't eat out & really miss the tasty stuff but I know it's bad for you. I can't make anything that tastes like the stuff you can buy so I don't talk that much about food anymore, to me it's just a necessity now. I really do enjoy food but my options are kind of limited & I have to make everything so it's kind of a pain.
