I say my baby because I had her since she was born she's now 4 years old. She has so much build up in her ears that has become so irritable she scratch behind her ear to try to dig dip and her mood has change and it's extremely smelly so I don't caress her like she's used to I thought to give her up so she can get better help since I don't have insurance but I know that pain they will never pass in my heart without trying something. Then I did research and thought maybe it's ear mites so I went to Walmart and bought hartz(Not exact on spelling) ear mite drop and hydrocortisone spray for the hole she scratched behind her ear including her favorite cat snacks so she wouldn't hate me after but since I put the drops in she been in hiding and will only come out the closet unless I put some snacks in my hand I don't know what to do its stressful for me because I just want her to feel better. Anybody have any suggestions??? Please help me???

My baby has ear mites right now too :(

You're going to have to force her to let you clean her ears. She will feel better in the long run! But try to minimize stress of course! I would try the towel wrap technique with a buddy, or if that doesn't work maybe invest in a "cat grooming bag" from Amazon ($12-15). I'm thinking of getting one myself for claw clipping, ear cleaning etc. I bought a $14 ear cleaning set from Petco, the label says R-7M as the brand. I've cleaned the ears 2x and applied the treatment 2x and it's nearly gone. It came with a bottle of cleaning solution and a bottle of treatment solution.

She was also rubbing off her fur behind one ear and causing it to scab. Before I picked up the kit I just used warm water. My cleaning technique involves ripping a cotton ball in half and soaking it 3/4 the way and letting it soak into the inner ear. Then, I rub around in the deep pocket of the inner ear and then wipe all the yucky stuff off of the rest of the ear. Sometimes I will carefully use a q-tip to get problem areas, but never inside the ear drum, just on the outer-inner ear area with all the nooks and crannies.

Afterwards, I give a couple treats and let her be without too much contact. After about 10 minutes, I make sure to give her some good loves. She forgets the misery quickly and appreciates her ears being cleaned. She even moans in happiness about it sometimes lol, and I can tell she is much less irritated in her daily life.

I'm going to look into that kit and keep updating my threat on the progress and changes . Once I get back from picking my fiancé up from work I'm going to do the buddy process and do a little cleaning. He gets extremely nervous because he always feel like he's hurting her so I'll probably be the cleaner thank you so much Amber your comment meant a lot

Trip to the vet ($50) cured ours.   They cleaned her ears, and no, she didn't like it one bit.  But, "they" did it and I didn't have to.

They gave me drops to put in her ears once a day for a week.
I'd place the drop, then lightly squeeze the outside of her ear with two fingers, then rub fingers together. (thus rubbing the inside of the cats ear folds together).

Quick, easy, painless.  Then a dose of Frontline.
No more ear mites.
