My kitten, Jack, estimated to be about 18 weeks now, was neutered about 9 days ago and is still barely eating. He's around 5lbs and has only been eating about four tablespoons a day. He's also been drinking a lot of water, which I've never seen a cat do before. He is currently on pretty good dry food, as far as dry goes anyway, so that may be why he's drinking so much, but I'm worried that something's wrong with him. What should I do?

He really has to be seen by a vet immediately. Eating so little points to an illness/infection and a need for expert care.

I agree.  A male is healed since several days from a common neutering, so its something else, something needing a vet visit ASAP.

You can try with giving raw goats milk if you can, fresh or frozen, or  some good kmr - lotsa of good nutrions easy digestible.

But its just a help to manage, its no cure for what he almost surely has...  Vet visit necessary.

Good luck - and please continue to report.

4 tablespoons is 1/4 cup, with some kibbles that's the recommended amount. What kind of kibble? How much was he eating before?

I agree that if you think anything is wrong, a vet visit is the best suggestion.

Before going to the vet, he was eating double what he is now. Currently, I'm feeding him Orijen kitten/cat food and plan on giving him some Instinct wet food when it arrives today in hopes it will coach him to eat more.

I agree he needs to see a vet asap for possible infection.

I just gave him a 3oz can of Instinct rabbit formula and he's already eaten half of it in about 2 minutes. I will continue watching him closely and I'd like to know if I should still make an appointment for him.

Why not make an appointment now & you can always cancel.

TrickyTree, he was lethargic until he ate the wet food today, which has really been his normal pattern since I got him. He's going to the bathroom as normal, but his droppings are smaller and harder than usual (which I'm hoping wet food will get back to normal).
Primula, I won't be able to make an appointment until tomorrow, so that's why I've been asking so much ^^" But if the consensus is to take him to the vet, I'll be sure to make an appointment for him.

His poops are hard because he got a little dehydrated while he wasn't eating enough. Watch him for a day or two. If he seems back to his old self you can probably wait.

Thank you everyone for the advice, Jack is eating well again, though I still plan to take him to the vet when my check comes in.
