Hi guys the vet says she might have asthma, but is not sure. When she plays she ends up panting, and sometimes when sleeping she wheezes. But he says "he can't be a 100% sure"

After losing my first adopted kitten to some infection, I adopted her (Koko) and then 1 month later her sister (Luna), and we've had very bad luck, when Luna first came they both got some kind of parasites, diarrea everywhere, then Luna has a skin condition which we believe is an allergy, we are trying to pin point it. I've spent a lot in visits to the vet, meds, xrays, and now this. I will never give up on them, I just love them too much.

Anybody have cats with asthma? What precautions should I take to keep it from evolving?

I have already bought an inhaler, just in case she gets an attack I can use it, think of it kind of like insurance.

I have called a guy to clean my air conditioning units, and I am thinking of buying an HEPA Filter.

I was going to spay her this week but I don't know if asthma kittens can or should be put under anesthesia.

They took an x-ray, I attach it here so if someone here is an expert please take a look at it and advise, please!

I have been looking around but with so much information I get more scared! It can be asthma or heartworms, or heart disease or this or that or something else.

Please help!

Thanks in advance guys!

Here's a great web site about feline asthma: http://www.fritzthebrave.com/ You might find something there worth discussing with your vet about.

Asthma is treatable with medicine. Flovent and other inahled medicines are typicall used. Keeping the home as dust-free as possible will also help.

I'm not an expert in asthma, or any other cat issue, really.  But I just wanted to say that when cats play hard, sometimes they will pant.  That's normal.   But with asthma, I really thought coughing was how they usually present.

AS far as the xray goes, did the Vet say there is an abnormality?  I have no idea even where the lung is actually showing up on the xray, so certainly don't know if there is any abnormality
And if anyone suspects Heartworm, wouldn't THAT show up in the xray?

When she wheezes when she sleeps, is it all the time, or just once in awhile?  I have a cat who does that, and I think it's just a certain position he gets himself in because he has a clean bill of health, and I'm an extreme worrywart and have definitely discussed asthma for each of them because of coughing and wheezing.  (one of mine coughs whenever he drinks water)

Hopefully it's nothing, just playing hard.

Great resource LTS3, really appreciate it!!!! Keeping home dust free is my intention with the air purifier if it turns out that it isn't asthma then at least it can't hurt and is good for you.
Thanks Mrsgreenjeens, yes the vet seems to thin there is not enough black so the airways seem inflamed or something like that I am trying to get a second opinion. Dont know if heartworms show up in xrays. And the wheezing is only sometimes so you might be right and be only certain positions. Im going to pay more attention. Thanks guys!!! Please if any one notices anything in the xrays please let me know I would really appreciete it.
