Forewarning: this introduction is sad.

My name is Dana and I am the mother of a DMH named Castle (cat page to be created). I adopted him with my partner 3 years ago with his brother Atticus, who bears my user name. Both boys were rescued from a cat colony in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston. They were fixed and fostered through Charles River Alley Cats, a network of fosters who rescue stray cats in the area and find them homes. We saw their pictures online and fell in love. Castle and Atticus moved to Portland, OR with us last year, and since we purchased our home, have loved returning to the outdoors to roam the neighborhood, chase bugs, climb, and be cats. They did the same in our neighborhood in Somerville, MA. This weekend, Atticus was struck by a vehicle, and our family became three. After this devastating loss, I have resolved to find a way to create a healthy, invigorating, and safe outdoor space for Castle, in addition to creating a more stimulating environment inside. I'm also interested in keeping him healthy in terms of diet, and interested in cat food preparation. I am excited to be a part of a community that loves cats and puts their happiness and health first. I look forward to exploring forums, interacting with fellow cat lovers, and learning more ways to make Castle's life as full and safe as it can be.

Hi Dana, welcome to TCS :wavey:

Thank you for adopting Atticus and Castle and I'm sorry to hear what happened to Atticus.

You've come to the right place where there are many interesting articles to help you in feeding the right diet to Castle and also other information which are or will be helpful to you.

Please do post Atticus and Castle photos for us to see.

See ya around ;)

Yes, a warm welcome.  So sorry about Atticus.  I am so glad to hear you are willing to explore the idea of building an outdoor enclosed play area for him.  I am certain one of our members who have built exactly that will chime in and show pictures of their enclosures and answer any questions you  may have regarding them.  Besides being very informative, this is a fun website as well.  As mentioned before, please feel free to ask and discuss anything on your mind about cats.  Enjoy, and oh yes, PICTURES please!
