Hello everyone,

Our two-year old, Persian cat started vomitting two weeks ago and the episodes continued for three days on and off. His family vet ran a full panel of blood work, a pancreatitis exam, an abdomen X-ray, and everything came back normal. We also had him on Royal Canin bland diet for a few days. The vomitting and dry heaving completely stopped until about half an hour ago. Does anyone have any experience with this? Yesterday it was 100 in Southern California and I'm wondering if that had anything to do with it. He didn't throw up solid--it was more of white, foamy liquid. We would greatly appreciate anyone's input :(.

did they talk about pancreatitis is not always confirmed by blood test?

Do you have meat babyfood like chicken/turkey? no onion/garlic.

you can hold off on feeding for a few hour then try with this food or plain cooked chicken no bones.

see if the vomiting holds off. sometimes they get upset tummy in the morning from being empty all night.

you could try small meals every 3-4 hours.

do you have any wet food? A/D canned is a good bland diet. or they have one called recovery.

call the vet and let them know. ask them what you should do=my vet has me give Pepcid. its very bitter so need empty gel cap and a pill popper.

you can bring the cat in and they can give injection of meds to stop vomiting. they can send you home with pills or injections for this issue.

has there been constipation or any other changes?

my elderly kitty had to get her dish raised up so she wouldn't puke as much.

I know it's very frustrating.

if it is very hot it can cause vomiting similar to how we feel when it's supper hot.

Did you start him back on his old food, or make any changes at all that might have caused the vomiting to start up again?

I agree that often that white foamy liquid can be from having an empty stomach for too long, and their stomach acid builds up.  My kidney cats ALL got that, and the fix was Pepcid A/C, 1/4 tablet twice a day.   But that was because of a chronic condition.  Your little guy got a clean bill of health, so I think it may be just because he isn't eating enough right now.

It's possible this is related to whatever food he's eating, since it seems to have stopped when he went on the bland diet for a few days, correct?  Don't know what his normal food is, but perhaps you should think about making a change?  Was that discussed at all?  Without more info on what his food is, I can't really give you any more info about it though.

Thank you all for your awesome tips! I was able to get a second opinion from a vet who specializes in cats only and she was so great! She diagnosed him with stress colitis, stemming from the new kitten and an upset GI tract from getting into the kitten's food. He received and anti-inflammatory shot and was prescribed an antibiotic. This morning he looked much better [emoji]9786[/emoji]️.
