This one is new, my 3 moth old kitten Kuro now meows when my mom enters her room even when I am in the living room with him. I know the meowing from the safe room is him wanting to come out and play and I am guessing that his meowing in the room in the morning is him telling me to get up and let him go play in the living room but I don't know what to make of him meowing when my mother enters her room. He did manage to sneak in there earlier tonight but we got him out with in a minute or 2.

There are rooms he is not allowed in due to there simply being stuff he can get into that we have nowhere else to put such as my parents room, our den, dinning room, our spare bedroom, and bathrooms. I don't know if it is cause he wants to explore the room, which will not happen for the already stated reason, or if he just wants to play with her or something. Only thing I can guess is maybe boredom but I have tried everything short of getting another cat, which like I said in a previous forum is out of the question right now. If this is outta boredom is there any toys that you guys know of, besides Da Bird and turbo scratcher since he has those, that anyone can recommend to help with his boredom? If it isn't boredom is there anything I can do to help stop his meowing besides just ignoring it cause something tells me that will drive my parents crazy. Once again new to the whole cat thing so I don't know if any of this is normal or not so please forgive me if this is normal or something super simple.

kodakun,

It seems pretty normal for your kitty to do that, meowing outside a room when someone is in there. My boy does the same thing too.
They are just curious and because of the sounds that are coming from the room behind closed doors. Let him in unless it's inconvenient to do so. If it's inconvenient, while you are outside with him, just say to him - 'wait, later then you go in' or just carry him away to distract him.
The other rooms that are out of bounds to him, it's good to let him in to explore with supervision. Let him get use to those rooms, otherwise, the next time you open those doors, he'll just rush in and hide while you are trying to get him out.
I se to restrict my boy to many places but after awhile, I gave him the green light to wander and go in any room he wants. After he got to check out the rooms, he hardly go in nowadays. And even if we open the door, he dosen't rush in or don't even go in.
Let your kitty own the house and you'll less problems controlling him as he knows what can be done and what cannot be done. They'll learn but all you need is lots of patience.
Usually when I don't see my boy, I'll just go find him and he is always just lying around. Even my cupboards tops, he used to climb up everyday but now he hardly goes up except once in awhile he asked to go up if he can't climb up by himself. Other than that, he'll climb up and stay for awhile and he'll be down. The more we restrict them, the more inquisitive they'll be. So let them have this feeling of 'been there done that'.

He's only 3 months old and he is still very much a kitten. He's full of energy and curiousity. It's normal if he gets bored. Besides Da Bird and scratcher, get him ping pong balls to play or any soft and light ball will also do. This will make him chase the ball. Get him a cat tree and place it by the window (closed of course) and let him see outside and enjoy the view and birds.

Don't forget to have him neutered when it's time to do so.

He is already neutered and has a cat tree positioned by my sliding glass door in my room which is slightly open during the day with the screen door locked in place to allow air into the room.
