Hi Everyone,

it's been a long time since I've posted, I need help with Lily's behavior. If anyone remembers,I had Lily & Callie.Callie was a feral/stray that I took in, and Lily & Callie were inseparable, best friends for four years.Callie loved being outside. She always kept close to the house, until 6 weeks ago. Callie tragically left us,she was hit by a car.  I miss her so much, and I know Lily does too. She hasn't been the same since she's been gone. About 2 weeks ago, the vet told me I should get another kitten,to help Lily not be so lonely. So I did. I named her Zoe,  Lily has started to accept the kitten, they get along fairly well, but they are not friends. I just think Lily is depressed. She doesn't play like she used to, and she growls at me A LOT, growls at the kitten, and is just very snippy, and not my sweet little Lily anymore. I almost miss Lily as much as I do Callie, because I haven't seen her be herself in over a month now. I know this is hard on her, she's been through so much in such a short time. Losing her best friend, and this little stranger coming into her house. She still looks for her, if she hears a noise outside, she will run to the window to see if its Callie. How do I help her accept that she's gone, and this little kitty is here to stay? I want them to eventually be friends, maybe even like she was with Callie. I try to show Lily as much attention as possible. half the time she doesn't want my attention. Then the baby is always looking for attention. I don't regret getting Zoe, I just think its not helping Lily. I miss my sweet loving inquisitive little Lily, who loved to play. She's only 4 years old, and acts like a grumpy old cat. If anyone has any advice on how to help her, please let me know.

Thank you,

Stacy

I think she needs time; and love, patience and reassurance.  It's normal for at introductions to take even a few months too.  Hopefully she will see the new kitten as a friend soon.  How old is Zoe?

Zoe is just a baby, about 8 weeks old. I'm at my whits ends with Lily. She's the meanest to me. I really wonder if she blames me for Callie being gone, and thinks I "replaced" her sister with Zoe. Alot of people have told me to give her time, I try and show her love but she growls at me a lot of the time. She only growls or hisses at Zoe when she's annoying her, she doesn't seem to mind her, just they aren't "best buddies" by any means. I was looking through old pictures tonight, of Lily & Callie and it broke my heart, they were so happy together.
