So i just got a 4-6 month old kitten and they gave me science diet kitten food for him. I have another cat about 4 years old who eats much better nutritional food (nature balance). the kitten keeps getting into her food to eat it. Nature Balance says its good for cats of all ages including kittens. Does my new kitten really need kitten food or can i start just switching him over to the same stuff she eats. most things i read say put kittens on kitten food because it has more nutrition for them to help grow, but science diet like most generic brands are pretty shitty nutrition wise anyways.

Absolutely feed the kitten the Nature's Balance!  It is a much better food and your kitten already knows it.  Read the ingredients and compare them.  Also, "kitten food" is mostly a marketing device.  In the wild, kitten food is whatever mama catches and shares with them.  They just need a good food that is mostly animal based meat, with a generous amount of fat, and very few carbohydrates, which re not good for cats.  You have a smart kitten who knows the difference between foods even though he can't read labels.

It's fine to give your kitten the Natural Balance
You may need to feed the kitten more of the food to keep the tummy happy and the kitten growing. You can also supplement with good quality kitten canned food.

However, my parents used Natural Balance for awhile with their cat, and I've tried it out with mine.

While the ingredients look good, both cats don't particularly enjoy it, and my cat in particular immediately shoots it back up. My parents cat eats it slowly, and rarely eats it all, a sign that she isn't really enjoying it.

So, I would not recommend buying this, I am guessing that a lot of cats will find this pet food tastes disgusting, and no matter how balanced the nutrition is, it is worthless if the cat won't eat it, or even worse is getting sick from it.
