My great aunt found an abandoned kitten today in our parking lot. She saw it yesterday but was waiting to see if mama would come back. No sign of her. I've given it a bath and placed her with my mama cat. My mama is super protective of her but I'm not sure how much it's eating since there's six other kittens that are 6 weeks old. So I'm supplementing with formula. He was covered in fleas and dirt so I gave him a bath and that's when I noticed a weird lump on his belly. Pink like his skin and hair is still covering it. It's hard to see when the hair is dry. He probably around 4-5 weeks. Just slightly smaller than my 6 week olds. I'm just worried about him. I think mama is gonna take him in but the lump worries me

It's hard to say what the lump is. I see it. It could be an abscess that needs draining. He needs to see a vet.

He's also adorable! [emoji]128149[/emoji]

Vets in the area are booked up right now and I don't have any days off at the moment. Belle had completely taken to him for the most part but I am bottle feeding too. He drank 35 ml in the past two hours.

He obviously needs the formula. Keep up the feedings, and stimulate him to go pee and poop unless your mama kitty does it. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Should I feed him as much as he'll eat or limit it at all?

As said, let him eat as much he wants. Him eating much hints he doesnt really get much from foster momma...

Good if you weigh him every day, this way you know if he adds nicely, or not...  If he adds nicely its perhaps even a hint this lump isnt very dangerous.

It could be where his umbilical cord was, it's in the right spot. He also could have a little hernia going on there, a vet should check it out to make sure, but I remember several of my kittens over the years having this and they were fine. All the luck!

Got an appointment for Friday afternoon. Is it weird he takes to the bottle really well? I didn't have to get the eye dropper

He's gaining weight. Eats like a horse. Today though, my mama cat was being mean to him and my other two adult cats. She's never done this before. And when he tried to nurse she only lets him for 30secs before moving away and swatting at him.
Also he was skinny when we got him but now that I look at him it looks like his stomach is like huge compared to his little body.

It sounds like the little guy is doing fine. How much does he weigh?

Is mama kitty in heat? She can be spayed anytime now.

He weighs 464 g
And if doesn't seem like she is. If the other kittens are nursing she'll let him nurse but by himself she won't. The other kittens turned 7 weeks today. They'll be getting shots in 2 weeks and then going to forever homes :)

Also what can I do for his fleas? He's gotten 2 dawn baths with days break in between but I don't wanna dry out his skin.

So he's a full pound, and is probably 4 weeks old. Are his baby teeth in?

You can put 2 drops of Advantage II on his neck with a syringe, just not a full dose. The drops will help. He can have a full kitten dose at 2 pounds.

He does have some. He cut a hole in the bottles nipple with them.

He may be ready to try soft solids soon, like pate-style chicken wet food mixed with KMR into a mush.

He's been eating the mush along with the other kittens and this morning I caught him eating dry food with Snow. Snow is one of my adult cats. Female. And besides the nursing aspect she took in pip like her own. She loves him.

Also the vet says he lucky to be 4 weeks max. The lump is a small hernia, which is what I was kinda thinking. It might go away on its own but he's young and it's small so for now just keep an eye on it
