I just stumbled onto something on the internet that would be a big help for sick cats, broth cat food (Fancy Feast broth)! If they're not eating you could give them some of this with a syringe along with water and this would give them all the nutrition of regular cat food and help them regain their strength!

Yes, that and there is also a PetSmart version (forget the name of their brand) that is usually a bit less in cost. The FF broths and Appetizers are what got my Sara eating again back when she went through her first anorexic bout (back in January of 2015) due to severe hyper-t and a UTI.

You can also blend canned food into a slurry, although this is more for advanced assist feeding (at least in my mind). Although, some cats are more apt to drink the slurry (no need to syringe), so it depends.

When a cat isn't eating, what ever works is the good thing to use.
