Hello all -

I'm just new to this forum and found you through searching for answers for various questions I have had since welcoming my little lion stray into my home a couple of months ago

I've found many helpful answers - although my current question is how to best describe him - is he a domestic long haired tabby with maybe a mix of something else..? - I've attached some photos (I think... if I've managed to properly) - and yes the last one is filtered  ;)

To tell a little more about him - he's male - I've no idea how old he is but I think he's possibly fully grown - about 5.2 kg which I think is about 11.5lbs - he's quite long - quite independent - doesn't like too much to be handled but I'm putting that down also to being a stray as he was much worse when he first arrived - and boy can he be talkative, especially when hungry - although again he was more vocal when he first arrived...

Thanks in advance for your answers!

I'd call him beautiful!  Not sure what classification he would be put in, but he is gorgeous.  And very elegant looking!

I think most would group him into the domestic longhair, but I'm not sure what criteria folks go by to do so.

I just know he is very handsome!

The coat pattern is similar to the American Shortair's tabby patten. But I think hbunny is right. Looks like a domestic longhair.

American Short Hairs were developed through careful selectiion and breeding of domestic shorthairs.

Maybe this pattern can also be found in domestic longhairs.

He's a very robust fellow

I  want to add, he is a classic tabby (marbled, bloatched, bulls-eye). The color is probably brown tabby, which also explains why he in some lights looks warm red.

I want to add the last photo with him streching out, its NOT lazy sleepy cat, but its a greeting with pals - here its probably you.

Also good to know, yawning is often a friendly gesture...

Thanks all! - good to know! -

He is a beauty alright (if I do say so myself..!  ;)), and a right bruiser - and nice of you to say that StefanZ about his stretching out - I didn't realise that.  When I come home late from work as my car pulls in the drive he comes around to the front of the house like that to greet me - always puts a smile on my face - (I tell myself it's because he loves me - it's more because he's wondering why I haven't fed him yet...)
