We lost our precious baby Friday at the vet. We rescued her from a shelter in may and she instantly became a part of the family. I had taken her for all her shots and blood work showed her to be in good health. Friday am she was scheduled for her spay by 11 we got a distraught call from the vet she made it through the procedure fine once in recovery her heart stopped. She was still intabated and they preformed cpr for 30 min nothing brought my Trixie back I feel so awful like I let this sweet baby whom I thought I was saving down she trusted me and its killing me inside I feel so lost

I am so sorry.  This was not your fault, it wasn't anyone's fault.  No matter how careful there are bad reactions to anesthetic, some are fatal.  The spay was a necessary procedure but sadly your kitty was one of the very small number that had a very bad reaction.  You did not let her down.  You gave her a loving home for a time which she didn't have before.

Sending you hugs. No you didn't do anything wrong. Like Denice said ^^^^ there are times we just don't know what will happen. Sending you lots of hugs and prayers if you believe. I can't imagine how much this hurts. I am glad you come on here to get some support. It's good to reach out during hard times. Don't be afraid to keep sharing about your baby. We all understand.

I am so sorry sweet Trixie passed on.  This is never easy.  As the others said, please know it wasn't your fault.  Trixie got to spend the last 4 months in a loving home, in the warmth of your care.  Most kitties don't get that.

I agree with @foxxycat  - feel free to share her stories and pictures with us.  We all know this helps in the process of healing during the grieving process.  I'm still missing my boy and he passed June 7th.

Know you're not alone.  We are here for you.

Warmest regards, Hope & my gal Chestnut.

I'm so sorry for your loss of Trixie. I'm heartbroken for you. You blessed Trixie with a loving home. That time was unfairly far too you short but know she passed having known pure love. Trixie will always be in your heart and soul.

Be kind to yourself. Trixie would want that. [emoji]10084[/emoji]️

The pain is so great when something like this happens, the totally unexpected reaction tears you apart when you did something out of love and caring. There was no way to predict something like this, it was a horrible accident that was in no way in your control. You would have never done anything to hurt that little girl and she knows this and loves you for it. I will never understand why things like this happen, everything you did you did out of love. There is no way to change the past,  all those should haves, could haves, bring nothing but heartache. Try not to dwell on her death, but celebrate having her in your life. You gave her happiness and love for the short while she shared your home, she will always love you for that, and you were doing what you thought was best, you cannot condemn yourself for committing an act of love.

We can only hold them for a short while, and by literally rescuing her from a life of fear and  loneliness you gave her the world and showed her what a home can really be like.  When things like this happen there is no acceptable answer. You must go on without out her in your life now, but the bond you formed will always tie her to you.  Not being forgotten in this world is a treasure she will hold forever in her heart, along with that tiny piece of your heart she will hold dear for eternity. That heart will heal eventually, time is the healer of all things. The scar that remains will remind you of her love and gratitude, and your precious memories will bring you comfort. She would never want you to be so sad when remembering her, she only wants the best for her loving family. Don't let something like this keep you from opening your heart again, she would be honored if you could pass on her love to another little soul that so desperately needs a family with big hearts and what you have to offer. Do it in her name and know she is purring her approval. Take care, know you will be held in my thoughts and prayers, my heart breaks for what you are going through.............RIP sweet Trixie, you did find love and for that you will always be thankful, please send your love to those who miss you so terribly much, and peace to their hearts that you will never leave them. The love you have for them will bind itself to their souls and you will never be truly gone,  love has no end. You will be held in loving hearts forever!

I am so sorry for your loss of Trixie.  You didn't let her down.  Not at all.  You were doing what we all do; if we are not breeders, we have our pets spayed and neutered.  You could have never predicted this tragic outcome.  I wish you and your family peace and comfort.  Bless you all.

You were doing all the right things for Trixie's health and well-being.  No one could have known this would happen.  I'm so sorry for your loss.
