My cat has had a dark/blackish spot on her nose for about two weeks, not really any changes. I originally thought it might be kitty acne since she has had it in the past under her chin, but cleared up with little treatment in about a week.

She also has a spot on her upper lip that now feels like bump just in the last two days It is flesh colored, but appears to have a little blood on it. The spot on her upper lip used to just be a tiny bare spot like if she was just missing a whisker. I had the vet look at it about three years ago and she said it didn't look like anything but to keep an eye on it.

I am attaching pics in case anyone has any idea what the spots might be and if they are even related to each other.

Thanks in advance.

For starters, if you haven't been back to the vet in three years, it's time to make an appointment, was that the last time you were at the vet, or the last time this issue came up..

Let me say, she has the sweetest face.

It's hard to tell what the black spot is.  My male cat used to scratch in a certain way once in a while and lose a whisker and that would happen, but that happened only a couple of times in his 13 years.

Below are some questions.  I'm hoping one of the more experienced members will also chime in with advice for you.

Is the black spot on her nose raised?

Does it hurt her if you touch it?

How long has it been there?

Is she an indoor or outdoor, or both.

How is her eating and bathroom habits.  Are they normal.

Have you noticed any changes in her activities, play, bird watching - normal behavior.

If you massage her body, does she wince to the touch of your hand.

I hope all is well.

What is her name.

Please keep us posted.

Is the black spot on her nose raised? - Doesn't seem to be raised, not that I've noticed. The spot on her upper lip is raised, but wasn't until a day or two ago.

Does it hurt her if you touch it? - No, she doesn't act like it hurts her if I touch it.

How long has it been there? - About two weeks on her nose, and the spot on her lip became a bump within that last day or two.

Is she an indoor or outdoor, or both. - Indoor only cat.

How is her eating and bathroom habits.  Are they normal. - I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary.

Have you noticed any changes in her activities, play, bird watching - normal behavior. - She seems to be acting normal, eating, drinking, playing, sleeping, bathing herself, purring.

If you massage her body, does she wince to the touch of your hand. - No

Hmmmm, not sure.

When was the last vets visit?  That's the important thing.

I know vet visits can cost, but is there a vet you can call for advice or a shelter in your area perhaps.

Getting her to the vet for a visit is key at this stage.  Especially if it was three years since the last visit.

The whiskers I've seen before, they do fall out and sometimes when the cat scratches it could irritate the area, but the spot on nose has me stumped.

There are medical experienced members on the board and Vet Techs as well, but they will as the first question I did, when was the last visit to the vet.

I'm glad she is eating and all habits are normal, that's a good sign.  Keep an eye on the growth, and if you notice it's getting larger, again, bring to vet asap.

Warm regards, Hope & my gal Chestnut.
