Hey all :) hope everyone is well humans and furry friends ^^ .. i have a question my little one (jack hes a 2year old male) seems to be suffering from allergic conjunctivitis .. i took him to the vet and we got some ointment for him (dexa with gentamicin) .. do you know how long it takes to see some impruvement or for it to completely heal? I have been doing the ointment for 5 days now and the vet told me to do it for 7-10 days of need be .. however i am worried it is not getting better as he still keeps the eye closed most of the time :(

Poor guy, his eye must be sore.  :(

At 5 days I think you are right to be worrying, and I would probably phone the vet at this stage and ask them what they think.  They will know how much improvement you should expect to be seeing at this stage, and if necessary see young Jack again or talk things through with you and maybe change the treatment he is on.

I hope you see him better soon.

Hope the vet has a good idea of what is going on and what will help get Jack quickly on the mend.   Keep us updated if you can.

I would think by now you would be seeing a marked improvement.  I'd call the Vet in the morning and discuss what's NOT happening.

I agree with @mrsgreenjeens that you should be seeing some progress by now.  Give the vet a call in the morning and tell them you've seen little to no improvement and ask for a different medication.

Hey all went to the vet .. jack got checked out and all seems to be ok .. his eye isnot red anymore and there is no sign of any infection or anything else that the vet can think of .. could be hes just squinting cause the ointment is uncomfortable .. *phew* thankyou for all your input :)

Good news.    I hope he is feeling a lot better, and starts to open that eye up again really soon.   Don't know about Jack but when I have to give Mouse eye drops he really hates them and I usually end up covered with more of the stuff than I get to stay in his eye....  it is always such a relief when you know it is working even if not all going where it's meant to.
