Hello,

I have a seven month old kitten. She is an indoor cat and sometimes I feel guilty that she never gets to go outside. She often tries to run out and explore when I open the front door.

So I got her a harness and started taking her to the park. I have taken her two times, but both times she has been very scared. The first time she didn't even leave her carrier. The second time she stepped out of the carrier but was shaking.

Now, the park does have some sounds, some people, etc., but nothing too scary. Not even a dog could be heard or seen on the second time.

One more thing to add about her personality; she is a very social cat, very explorative, and i almost never see her get scared about anything. so i was surprised she was so scared.

Should I let her keep trying, to see if she can get used to it and enjoy it? Or will she always be scared, so best I keep her inside?

Any tips?

Thanks

This is tricky...

Can you start with walking her around outside your home first before taking her to a totally strange place like the park?

If she's scared, I would take her lead and stop it.  At least for a while until you do more research on cat behavior.  I know the last thing you want to traumatize her.

There are probably members who have lots of experience with this.  Sorry I wasn't much help.

Thanks. I can try to walk her a bit outside my home, but it is not as nice as a park. I will give it a try. Looking forward to hearing other people's responses!
