A generous soul and cat lover dropped $8,000 in cash in the Neely Cat Center donation box at the Pasadena Humane Society in Pasadena, California.

A spokesperson said $20 is about the average daily amount collected. A woman asked about cats, and then left, but not before donating the cash in crisp $20 bills.

The Humane Society is hoping its security camera will reveal the donor, who the staff wants to thank in person

The Pasadena Humane Society serves the cities of Arcadia and Pasadena, and takes in 12,000 animals per year.

The money will pay for food, toys, veterinary care and other services.

That is a blessing for the center. The woman must have loved cats with all her heart.

That's wonderful. I know the Human Society can really use the money. When I make up a will I plan on leaving  2/3 of my money to my two nephews and a l/3 to my local Human Society. I've never been married and I don't have any kids.

That's rad. I wish I had mass amounts of money to give, it's totally satisfying to make other people happy

That's so heartwarming! When I die, I plan to leave most of my estate to two causes: stray/abused animal shelters and veterans.
