My mama had 5 but only 3 made it. Wrapping up week 2 the babies are growing and starting to wobble around and one even plays alittle.

Two of them have both eyes open but the one, only one eye is open. Is she going to stay with one eye?

I feel so bad for her :( is this normal?

It may be crusted shut, or it may not quite be open yet.

Apply a warm, damp cloth a few times a day to soften it in case it's stuck shut with discharge, but do NOT pry the eye open in case it needs more time to open. Forcing it can cause damage.

Let me know if it opens or not. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

It was crusted. Warm wet cloth worked but it crusted up alittle again overnight. Is there an otc product I can use for kitten eye infections?

The safe way is to contact your vet, as its very probable there is some infection.  And we dont want to fool around with infection in the eyes, unless we do know what to do and how...  Also, such an bacterial infection may very easily spread to siblings and momma...

but to reinforce what you already do,

you can use saline water - just a little salt, less than in tears

camomilla tea or even weak black tea have also been tried...

But, as the crusted is coming back, I suspect its an infection... So contact your vet please.  He will probably prescribe a terramycin oinment, let him decide.

Please keep cleaning the eye as often as needed until you can get the antibiotic ointment.

A cloth soaked in warm tea and applied to the eye may help. Keep it uncrusted.

There is no OTC product for eye infections. A tube of terramycin, which is an antibiotic eye ointment, will solve the problem. You can get it at the vet.

1. My kittens are 4 weeks old today. They all seem pretty normal except for one who is constantly scratching at her ears. I tried to look and I saw alittle blood, poor thing. The mama is an indoor cat, except for the one time she got out. My cats don't have any fleas, so I'm worried about the scratching. I'm also on a tight budget, so I hope it's nothing serious. Thinking about anything going wrong gives me anxiety so I really hope she's ok.

2. The other question I have is when should they start eating food and using the litter box. I put a plate of kitten (wet) food out on a plate and none of them seemed interested or curious about it. I also put out A small box of nonclumping cat litter and they all wanted to eat that though . Good thing it's nonclumping. I took that one away for now. Or should I leave it out.

It sounds like your kitten has ear mites. You will need to see the vet for ear medicine to kill the mites. You should treat your mama cat, and all the kittens, as mites are highly contagious.

Since your kitten is scratching so much, and you saw blood, a secondary infection may develop if not treated quickly.

You can read about ear mites in cats here on WebMD:

http://www.m.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/cat_ear_mites

Please see the vet and let us know how this works out.

Regarding your second question, many kittens are more ready to try wet food at 5 or even 6 weeks. Once they actually begin eating solids, you can put the litter box back, and start putting them in before and after meals. Take a little paw and show them how to dig. They usually catch on quickly!
