I'm in college and live about 45 minutes from home. I have a 3 bedroom apartment that is 2 stories. I've lived here for a year and a half now.
My cat is about 14 years old and she is literally my best friend. I've always wanted to move her down here with me because it's miserable being away from her for weeks before I get to see her again. I decided not to move her down here last year because when we moved into the house she is living in now she freaked out. She threw up all over and it was just a lot for her(this was when she was about about 8).
I refuse to believe that anything bad will ever happen to her but she is getting older and she was recently diagnosed with hyper thyroid disease and arthritis(she is on medication for both). I want to be with her as much as I can.. So I was thinking of moving her up here with me. As bad as I want her here I dont want this move to be a lot on her and make her sick or anything. Any suggestions on what I should do or stories related that some of you may have had with this problem??? I would love to know!!!

I miss her so much I am not exaggerating when I tell you I FaceTime my sister everyday to just let me look at her (and talk to her lol)

I understand you wanting to be with her, I was with a cat I had from 8 weeks old to 17. She lived in like a hundred apartments with me, moved to 4 states & I never thought of not taking her with me.

My first thing is, that's great you've lived in that place now for awhile, are you gonna live there forever? Or do you have plans to move in a year, two years? The more you move, the more stressful it's gonna be on her.

Something else I thought of, what are the chances you moving to a place that's a little closer to your kitty, more far to get to school? Then you could see her more without changing her habitat. If she's lived in the house now for about 4 years, that's gonna be a giant change to take her to your place. I don't know how long you're at school, I don't know how much time you'll have for her. Don't you go out at night? & have people over & stuff? You have to think of everything that will affect her & think what is best for her.
