Is there any type of food (besides the Hills Digestive food my vet recommends) that will help prevent pancreatitis flareups?

Thanks.

Thanks. My vet just said a bland diet of chicken and rice food. He only said the Hills Digestive food was an option and then to try steroids if it didn't help.

He never said anything about fat or anything in food that contributes to flareups.

So the bland diet is for DURING a flare-up only, correct?  Your furbaby cannot live on that, because it isn't 100% nutritionally balanced for a cat.

Read through that thread and then if you have more questions, come back with them.  Maybe by then someone else who has experience with pancreatitis will have responded, ok?

Yes, he said only use it while he is sick and then transition back to a regular diet.

Pancreatitis needs a low fat diet, right?

Weruva's chicken recipes are all low fat and low cal. No need for silly, expensive, and low quality Rx food.

I actually have heard mixed opinions on the lowfat diet thing. They say it works for humans and dogs, but, cats need higher fat.

I have to ask my vet about it. The food isn't fixing the problem so he will likely have to have steroid treatment.
