I don't know if i should post this here or in behavior..

My cat had coccidia, he's been on medicine for almost a week now as well as a probiotic.

He's never buried is urine, but was great about burying his poop. When he had the diarrhea he quit teeing to bury it. I figured it was just cause it was liquidy like urine. But it's pretty solid again and he's still skipping on the burying!
Is there anything i can do to get him to bury his poop again?
Is it cause he's still sick?
Or did he just get out of the habit?
I have a small apartment so when he poops it smells up the whole place unless he buries it immediately.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know!

Sorry, I won't be much help.  My gal doesn't bury her's and never has.  First I have to put the litter in the box like a horseshoe, so there's no litter in the middle of the box, then she'll pee in one corner and will poop in the diagonal corner.  She'll move the litter to poop but then gets right out of the box.

Perhaps he just got out of the habit, or the medicine is still adding an odor to it and may take a while to get out of his system.

I'm sure a more experienced member will have more to add to the conversation.

Have you called your vets office to ask why this is happening.  They might have some answers for you.

Good luck.

Sorry, I've got no advise for you.  I'm thinking that with time he'll start covering it again, but can't be sure. Nothing else changed?  Is he the only cat?  If you had a multi cat household, then there might be a reason for it, although there still might not be a solution.

We do have a second cat, his twin litter mate. They're both 6 months old.
His brother Tristan has always buried his poop and pee. It's just Thomas that we're having issues with.
Maybe, it's just cause he's still young?

Are they littermates, or have they been together since they were wee kittens?  If so, then I doubt it's a dominance issue, especially at this age, but I've been know to be wrong before
.  Some cats don't bury their poop to try to show who's dominant, though I think it's pretty rare, and it seems odd that it would coincide with his diarrhea issue.

I'd probably just wait a little while and see if he starts burying it again.  If not, then maybe start up a thread in the behavior forum.
