Some background. This is a stray cat I took in about a year ago. She drank a lot of water then and had some traces of blood in her urine. Multiple vet visits and antibiotics did nothing.

So I took her to one of the best clinics in the state. They gave her betrol (sp??) This very strong antibiotic for 2 months and her bleeding lower to almost microscopic traces and the kidney values were lowered too. She looked fine after that.

But just a month after treatment she stoopped eating. This was a week ago. Took her to the clinic and now she had substantial blood in the urine and blood clots. Her kidneys values were sky high as well.

Fluids to drain the kidneys and antibiotics didnt do much. We did this for 5 days and nothing. We were actually thinking that we might have to make a tough decision. They put her back on that betrol and she has been responding a bit. Bleeding is lowered and kidney values lowered but still higher than normal.we also did a blood transfusion as her red blood cell count was really low.

The vets don't know what to do. They told me that if she is bleeding from her kidneys than they have to do exploratory surgery and if it's the kidney they have to remove it. But then she is left with only 1 and with her kidneys values higher than normal she might not make it.

Has anyone experience anything remotely? Are there any natural herbs anyone has used in the past for inflammation like this?

She is only 2 and I am so sad that I might have to let her go but I want to exhaust my possibilities. Thanks all in advance.

I'm so sorry. I actually have no advice but wanted to wish you and your kitty the best.

She has been eating the past two days which is good but I am afraid that like last time as soon as she is taken off the antibiotics she will get sick again.

Has anyone ever going through something like this?  Any help would be appreciated.

Is it possible your cat has crystalization of urine in the bladder? One of my cats had that and it manifested at UTIs that would come right back after we stopped antibiotics. I think the crystals showed up in xrays. They called it "bladder sludge"

Thank you for your answer.  They did multiple scans on her almost daily.  She didn't have any obstruction per say.  Just blood clots.  As the days went by they said the kidneys looked a bit inflammed.  :(

Not sure what to do.  This is one of the top clinics in my state and my vet told me she asked everyone and her case was so rare and unique. :(

Did you give your cat any herbal medicines?

Unfortunately no. We did put him on a special wet food exclusively that helped prevent forming the sludge. I hope you can figure out what the problem is and treat it somehow.

Has your Vet possibly discussed her case with a teaching University in your state or even out of state?  They are usually the best places, because they are up to date on the latest and greatest.

I don't think so.  Although I know some of the vets there perform experimental medicine at universities.  I will ask when she gets her follow up check up next week. Thank you .
