Do cats nipples' get larger because of pregancy- or can there be other reason?

She's probably a little more than a year old and not spayed. I've noticed in the last couple days that her nipples look slightly bigger? And they're harder, whereas before they were barely noticeable. They aren't huge and super pink like some cats I've seen though. I'm really not to experienced with cats and their anatomy, so I don't know if I'm imagining things.

This picture is really bad and I'll try to upload more once she calms down lol.

Welcome to TCS! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Has she had the opportunity to mate with intact males? If so, she is very likely pregnant. That is usually what enlarged, pink nipples mean.

Nipples pink up around day 21 after conception. Cats begin to show a rounder tummy around the 5th week. Pregnancy runs about 65-68 days.

Do you want kittens? If not, you can spay her now.

Here are some articles that may help:

Thanks! I've actually been planning on spaying her soon but with this possible pregnancy I don't think I can do it. She's indoors 99% of the time but I learned that she got out one morning a few weeks ago... [emoji]128531[/emoji]
I do believe I can find homes for the possible kittens, I have a few people in mind. But do you think there's any other reason for the enlarged nipples? And can a vet confirm it without an ultrasound? Also, she's not a big cat, she's been pretty tiny her whole life. I read that pregnant cats get very big/noticeable bellies, but is it possible that smaller cats don't "show" as much? Sorry for the many questions!

There is almost no other explanation besides pregnancy, other than phantom pregnancy, but that doesn't occur often.

As I said, she will begin showing in another couple of weeks. Even small cats can become huge during pregnancy!

Some vets can palpate and tell without ultrasound. Just give it a couple of weeks and save yourself a vet trip. [emoji]128521[/emoji]
