Pam I'm so sorry. I hope you and Rick find comfort and peace.
Boo has had a wonderful life and I know in my heart that you are making the best decision given the circumstances. Boo will be surrounded by loved ones and cross the bridge in the calm quiet peace of home with his loved ones.
Again I'm so sorry.
Sending you all prayers, love, strength and peace.
I think that says it all.
Thinking of you guys & keeping you in my prayers as well. :hugs:

Pam, I think you're doing the best thing for Boo. I know that doesn't make it feel better for you. All I can offer are my thoughts and prayers for all of you.

I believe that the avatar picture is Mollipop.

This is the thread about Boo and his treat machine.

http://www.thecatsite.com/t/209898/booboo-and-his-treat-machine
Thanks for mentioning the treat machine, Kat, and giving the link. BooBoo is the only cat I've seen that can actually spin a machine like that.

The thread that I saw was this one...http://www.thecatsite.com/t/296362/need-a-favor-please/30.....Post # 32

It shows Boo spinning the treat wheel, while Mollipop and Tabby wait for the treats to fall.

(I wonder if they pretended to not know how to do it, so that Boo would do all the work.)

Pam, I think as @ BBDOLL22 mentioned before, that BooBoo was holding on, until Rick came home.

And I think that Rick needed these extra few days to say goodbye, and tell Boo what a great cat he is.

Sending you thoughts and prayers of love. Hugs, too.

Yes, my avatar is Mollipop. Thank you for posting the links, @Catnap  and @Kat0121

BooBoo was the one who would spin the wheel for the treats to drop down. When Banshee was alive, she used to lay in wait while he spun the wheel. Then when the treats fell, she'd come in and take them from him. He'd look at her and spin again. And she'd take the treats. I remember one day they really went at it because he was getting tired of doing the work and not getting anything. He smacked her down big time. She looked at him and then she charged right into him. And they went tumbling. I got them broken up, BooBoo came back out to the kitchen and I took Banshee into the computer room, so she'd leave the boy alone.

His mom, Whisper could spin the wheel, too. They were the only two in the family who could do it. I really don't think Banshee could. She'd walk around the machine, sniff at it, try to turn it, but nothing. And we don't know why. She could be back in bed, but as soon as that wheel turned and the treats dropped out, she was right there. It got to where I had to keep her away from BooBoo when the machine was out, just so he could eat in peace.

And we used to say that spinning the wheel kept Boo's "pawceps" in good shape.
A few years ago, his treat machine had broken. I posted here about finding another one. We did get him another one and he used it a couple of times. But as much as he wanted to play with it, even back then he wasn't doing that well. I used to spin the wheel for him to get his treats. I'm so glad we were able to get another one for him. But it's in the basement now....nobody else knows how to use it or wants to even try.

He seems to be walking fairly well on his legs. But his balance is horrible. He can't stay on his feet for long periods of time. And he seems very tired. He ate breakfast this morning, drank some water, and then went in the living room and flopped down. He was sleeping when I left and I'll go home today over lunch. My sister is coming over tonight to say good-bye. She has always thought he was such a handsome cat. She always says to him, "Boo, you are such a manly kitty!" There was never any mistaking him for a girl; he is definitely all boy and you can tell that just by looking at him.

I agree that Rick just needed some time yesterday. To watch him, to see how he was doing. Without me being there. This is a decision that he had to make on his own. I do think it helped him to talk to the vet. Please keep us in your thoughts tomorrow. I'm not really sure what time the vet is coming, just that it's in the morning. She will be doing some farm calls and then she'll stop with us. She will take him with her as he is to be cremated. And then we'll pick his ashes up later. I think I'm going to put Boo's ashes in with Banshee's. Maybe that sounds morbid, but those two were close. She was a year old when the kittens were born and she took every bit as good care of those babies as Whisper did. Boo and Banshee were always together; where there was one, we could always find the other. When Banshee passed away, BooBoo grieved for her as much as I did and probably more. It was a good 5-6 weeks before he came back to being OK. When I would fix their meals, Boo and Banshee would fight and carry on. She'd bite his ears and he'd plow into her and knock her right off her feet. She'd spring up and bite his ears again. They did that for years; mealtimes were a real circus with those two. So after she died, he was lost. He didn't know what to do. I just think it's right to put them together. I think they belong together.

I'll shut up now.

@Winchester  you, Rick, BooBoo, Ms Pepe and the rest of the crew will most definitely be in our thoughts tomorrow.

Putting Boo in with Banshee doesn't sound morbid to me at all. It sounds right. They were bonded. They belong together. I think that they would agree that it's the right thing to do.

I always loved the story of the treat machine too and the search for a new one. I remember how determined you were to find one for Boo because you (both) just wanted him to be happy.

Boo had the best life ever with the best family ever. He and Banshee will be together again and I have a feeling that there will be a treat machine over at the bridge for Boo to work and Banshee to help him enjoy.

Please give him some kisses for me. He is a handsome and special boy and we'll never forget him either.

No, it's not morbid at all to want to put them together.  I have the ashes of Wurp's best friend (Max the dog) awaiting Wurp's time.  My intent is for them to be together when Wurp's time comes--it will be a comfort to me (albeit small).   They were never apart the last years of Max's life when he became a tottery old man, Wurp watched over him nonstop, and more and more so as he declined in his last few days.  Wurp was with him sitting by him when he passed away, and didn't want to leave his side afterwards.  It just seems/feels right to make sure they are together.

So sorry to hear this.  I'm sitting her weeping as I read it; I know how hard it is to make this decision for one you love, even when you know it's the best thing you can do for him.

Everyone is here for you; feel free to cry on our shoulders as much as you need or want.  We'll be thinking of you and Rick, and especially Boo tomorrow.
