Your resident cat may need an antibiotic herself.

Your kitten needs 12 mLs every 3 hours, which is double what you're giving. This may explain why he's frantic. He's not getting enough food and is very hungry!

A 3-week-old kitten should weigh about 12 ounces. This means he needs a MINIMUM of 96mL each 24-hour period. If you feed every 3 hours, he needs at least 12 mLs per feeding.

Please feed him more. Do you know how much he weighs?

He's 7.5 oz. he was less than one oz at 3 days old. Very tiny. He cannot eat that much. His tummy is really full with the 6 he tried to eat 7 one time and was struggling to move he was so full.

Kitten poop on formula should be semi-soft, toothpaste-like consistency. That looks okay.

Try feeding him every 2 hours.

Just a suggestion, but you could try coconut oil on his bum for the urine-scald if you're worried about the chemicals in the baby cream [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Odin was euthanized at 12:30pm yesterday. He began not wanting to eat and by 8am he was almost lifeless. He was doing so well. Just started popping everyday and it wasnt runny anymore. His tummy was bloated and it was putting pressure on him making it difficult to breath. Idk how he was constipated, he pooped 2 times the night before and after enemas and stimulation, belly rubs. We just weren't prepared to be killed by poop. I knew what I would do if he got sick. I knew what I wanted to try if he started fading. I didn't know how to deal with the constipation. We just switched to adding mineral oils and pumpkin to his bottles to help make the poos not so hard. I came home and threw everything away. 8 can't even sleep in the same room anymore I'm just so sick over all of this.

I'm so sorry. It is really hard to lose a little one. It sounds like he had a lot of issues, and you did everything you could to help him. He knew love! RIP Odin. [emoji]128149[/emoji][emoji]128062[/emoji]

How do I get over this
I wish I knew. My Harry died in July at 10 months old & the pain is still so bad. You have to accept it as part of life.

What you did was a beautiful thing. Who else would have taken Odin in if not for you? He knew love, he knew comfort, he wasn't starving and frightened in the short time you had with him. God had other plans for him.

I may adopt another kitten. Not a bottle baby, but another small one under 1 year old. I've already mentally and physically prepared for a growing kitten just because he couldn't be here long doesn't mean I can't have that right? Before him I didn't want another cat, now I have all of this love and loss and I feel like I need something to take care of. Maybe he just gave me the opportunity to save another baby. Bring another kitty home from the vet and love. It will NEVER be my Odin but maybe it would help me move on. I'm just frozen I don't know what to do with my time. What to do before bed when I would normally be making bottles for the night.

Adopting a shelter kitten is a fantastic idea! There are so many kittens out there in shelters that need good homes. So many kittens euthanized daily for lack of a home. Odin is gone, but you can certainly save another one. [emoji]128077[/emoji] [emoji]128571[/emoji]

On behalf of The Cat Site Moderating Team, we are truly sorry for your loss. You may wish to post a memorial thread in our Crossing the Bridge Forum when you feel like it. When a member loses a cat, we close the thread. This is done to show our sympathy and respect for your loss. I will do that now. Again, we are truly sorry for your loss.
