I'm getting worried about my cat Sissy

Sissy just came out of an estrus cycle four or five days ago. Since then she has been slightly aggressive (hissing and swatting) if her sister comes near her. Now today Sissy has vomited three times. The first two times food came up but this most recent vomiting didn't bring up food despite the fact that she ate three or four hours before the vomiting. My question is, is it normal for this type of thing to happen after the stress of an estrus cycle or is it more likely that Sissy is ill? I can say that it's normal for her to vomit during estrus and it's normal for her to be crabby after a cycle but I've never seen both after a cycle. I did recently switch their food but switching food normally doesn't make either of my cats vomit.

I want to add that Sissy certainly isn't acting sick. She isn't lethargic or sleeping more than usual. In fact she has been playful when she is awake. I know cats are masters at hiding illness or injury but my thought is she wouldn't be playful if she was ill.

Is there a reason that you haven't had them spayed?

I would guess that something is not right based on this behavior.  Pyometria comes to mind.  Can you get her to a vet?

God I hope it's not that. I would list the reasons why we haven't gotten them fixed but most people would just see them as excuses. For example, not enough money. I could probably take her to a vet early this week but I'd have to borrow the money. Of course this had to happen when my husband is between jobs and without a paycheck. She ate late last night and she didn't throw up the food but she's thrown up four times this morning. I watched her drink some water and then throw it up a few minutes later.

Oh I should add that both cats had fleas and we gave them the Pet Armor Plus spot treatment on Sept. 7. The day we treated them is the day Sissy went into heat. I'd say it lasted about six or seven days.

Vomiting is often a sign of early pregnancy in cats (like humans). Is it possible that she might be pregnant? You can usually find low cost spay and neuter vet clinics for as low as $35 - $50.

Thanks for the info oldgloryrags. I'm 100% sure Sissy isn't pregnant. She is a strictly indoor cat and she hasn't had any escapes or even escape attempts. I also want to add that my husband and I put food grade diatomecous earth down on all the carpets and furniture for the fleas. The bag says it's safe for kids and pets but the vomiting started the day after we put it down.

I had to take Sissy to the vet today. The vet felt poo in Sissy's intestine during the physical exam so they took a couple of X-rays. Her diagnosis is, constipation and possible enteritis (inflamed and irritated intestines). The vet said that Sissy could also possibly have a liner obstruction but her x-ray didn't show gas pattern's consistent with a blockage (although sometimes they don't) They gave her Sub-q fluids and an antiemtic injection. I also have to give her hairball paste. If she's still not eating/ vomiting in 24-48 hours they want to take more x-rays to look for a linear obstruction.

Depending on how old your cat is, it is a great strain on her to be un-spayed. The constant going in & out of heat does not help a female cat's health. Next time you're there, ask the vet how much he would charge to spay her. Might not be as much as you think or he may have a payment plan.

Where are you located? We can help you to find a low cost clinic.

I do already know of a low cost clinic fairly close to be but it would still be a 35 minutes drive. As soon as my finances are better (by the end of the year) I want to contact the vet that has already seen Sissy and my beardie two years ago to see how much they would charge.
