I have a momma cat who I believe is experiencing interrupted labor. I'm looking for help and validation at this point. I have had momma for almost 2 years. This is her 3rd litter. The first litter she had 5 kittens, the 2nd time she had 8. Both times everything was done and over within 45 minutes. This morning I wake up to the kids yelling she had kittens. They are 5 and freaked out. I went in there and she had 3. But I KNOW there are more in there. She is an Egyptian Mau and is a skinny skinny cat. She is a blimp when pregnant. I'd guess for another 3 to 5 in there. But she looks like labor has stopped. Like fully stopped. She is panting but no signs of contractions or pushing. She is letting the first 3 feed and has already cleaned them. I'm worried. Do I take her to her vet? Or do I just wait this out? I'm so worried! Please help!!!

Interrupted labor is common. Some cats even birth kittens on different days. And every pregnancy and labor is different from the one before - just like in humans!

How are things now?

You mentioned that mom is skinny. She needs access to kitten chow 24/7 while pregnant and nursing, with wet food meals 4-6 times a day.

Do you have plans to spay her? 3 litters in 2 years is really hard on mom.

How is it going?   as said, pauses are common, and as long she seems OK no visible troubles, you can wait and see - although be vigilant of course.

But if you DO notice visible problems - contact your vet...  Also, we dont want prolonged active labor...   Active labor in cats is typically much shorter than with humans.

As SArthur said,  she had several big litters in a short time.  And has surely deficiencies now.  You must be sure she gets first rate nourishment - kitten type, or lactacting momma type. Be sure she gets extra calcium too...  Perhaps also some nice vitamine paste.

Goats milk is good.  Little full fat mild youghurt, for example these graecian or turkish style.  A little mild full fat cheese...

If you dont have problems with salomonella in eggs in your area, so some raw egg youlk, as it is or blended with something, is good.

You can crush the egg shell from a boiled egg into fine powder, and sprinkle it alike salt on her food.   One egg is enough for several weeks, doing such cautious

sprinkling...

The full fat goat milk mentioned, you can also use for the kittens if they would need supplementing.  Its an Ok alternative to kmr.
