Cat went from vomiting (always a hairball) 1x month or couple of months to vomiting ~2x/week.

One of my 3.5 yr old Main Coons started to vomit ~2x/week after his annual visit to the Vet (~1.5 months ago).

There was some fur present in the first two occurrences but the last couple of times have been food only and within 20 minutes of eating.

The cat is one of two (littermates) and his brother is fine.

Food Regimen:

NV Instinct cans (Chicken, Venison) + NV Ultimate Protein (Chicken). 3 months on this dry

NV Raw (Rabbit and Lamb previously)

I mix dry in with the wet and raw.

Currently (As of earlier this week):

Same variety of cans and raw but I switched back to NV Rabbit for the dry wanting to see if he would keep it down.

I had an older cat who suffered from severe IBD and we managed it for about 2.5 yrs.   I really don't want to go thought that again with such a young cat and I would think that my food choices would have mitigated the chances of it happening again.

I'm going to schedule an apt with the Vet but I wanted to see if you guys have any insight in the mean time.  I'm wondering if it's vaccine related (Rabies).

Cut out the dry food. Try giving multiple small meals per day and see if that helps. Are you giving anything for hairballs like Vet's Best?

IBD can be managed, you may want to poke around http://www.rawfeedingforibdcats.org/

They're fed 3x day(6am,4pm,9-11pm) and he has thrown up wet only.

No hairball meds. Not when it's once every couple of months.

It's hard to know if its hairball related, but you could start giving him slippery elm syrup a few times a day and see if that helps. I give SE whenever my cats are vomiting or have hairballs. It's good for nausea and hairballs. I still suggest you cut out kibble completely, even if he's not throwing it up it could still be irritating his system.

UPDATE:

I think he's allergic to the canned chicken.    Pull it from the rotation and no more vomiting.  Now it's back to Petco for a refund/exchange.  It's a pity really since chicken is such a cheap source of protein.
