Hi all!

So about a week ago I noticed my cat started having bad breath. When i looked in his mouth he had a red sore not on his gums, but on the inside of the lip. yesterday his top fang fell out but he doesnt seem to be in any pain at all and has been eating dry food normally.

He is about 5 months old and when he was a baby had both ringworm and an upper respitory infection while still in the humane society (unlucky kitty).

We will most likely be going to the vet this weekend but does anyone know what could be wrong? I looked up gum disease but the sore doesn't look like any from the pictures. Could he have lost his baby tooth and it be a coinciedence that he has a temporary sore at the same time??

jazzycat110,

Welcome to the Catsite :wavey:

Your kitty is going through teething. It's normal for kittens to have some bad breath while teething. The tooth that fell off is likely the baby tooth. You may find one or two baby tooth lying around the house or stuck to his soft toys.

By around 8 months of age, his permanent teeth should be in.

Since you are bringing him to the vet this weekend, just double check with the vet about the red sore. Hope his ringworm and URI will be treated and get well.
