Hello! I'm new here so sorry if I'm doing this wrong.
A very young female (max 1 year old) showed up outside our house (empty lot next door really) about 2-3 months ago and I stared feeding her. Long story short I noticed she had a belly and slowly caught her and brought her in. Turns out she's a real cuddly sweetheart. Anyways...I took her to the vet worried she had Pyometra...turns out she is very pregnant. Tech said she would probably burst in a week or two. That was a week and a half ago. They did an ultrasound and the tech said they all seemed to be alive and well. She said there could be around 5 or more but it was difficult to say %100. Anyways um... on Monday.. 3 days ago... she had some diarrhea and mini ripple contractions(?) around her hind legs and appeared uncomfortable all day. The next day she was fine but not eating much..and not pooping much. She also has had terrible gas throughout the whole pregnancy since I've had her. She seems fine other than this. She will only eat a little...and only her old cat food... I have been trying to mix in kitten food and she won't eat it...and I tried some wet food but she just licks a little and leaves it. (She used to eat like crazy before...like a cup of food sometimes more a day)
I've heard of queens going off their food on the day of labor but is it ok for her to be doing this in the last couple weeks? She does have a creamy white discharge, however she has had this on and off since I found her. (One of the reasons I had taken her to the vet in the first place) Both the vet and the ultrasound tech said it was nothing to worry about.
Anyways...basically wondering if anyone has experienced this not eating/pooping and what's the best thing to do to get her to eat...or should I not worry about it. We are anxiously awaiting the kittens...makes it so much worse not knowing the date! Thanks!

Welcome to TCS! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

It sounds like she is very close to giving birth. It could happen any day now. Cats do sometimes eat less and experience diarrhea a few days before going into labor.

In general, creamy white discharge indicates infection. The fact she has gas indicates she probably needs treating for worms and parasites. Give your vet a call and ask about these items. She can be treated now, because some worms and parasites are passed to the kittens through mom's milk.

She may eat better without worms and infection. Offer her tuna or adult wet food just to get her to eat. She really needs to be treated for infection!

With a big litter coming, you'll want to get a can of powdered PetAg kitten formula on hand and a 1-2 mL needleless syringe in case a kitten needs supplementing. A dish a day will help to meet mom's calcium needs too.

Here are some articles for you:

Thank you so much! She has already been treated for both worms and fleas. The vet said it didn't appear to be an infection because she had no fever, the discharge has no smell, and she seemed overall healthy (not lethargic etc)

I will let the vet know about her eating/pooping...especially if this goes on any longer...

Margarita (queen kitty) is starting to get annoyed that I keep trying check/clean her bottom bits but the fact of the matter is that she just isn't doing it right because she can't reach. She goes to lick and gets about as close as the inside of her hind leg. Poor girl. I will keep trying more types of foods to intice her. Thanks!

She will probably have her kittens in the next 24-48 hours.

Gather your supplies today!

Still no signs except she keeps trying to hide between our sofa and the wall. Definately not enough space for kittens there but she ia determined. She is confined to her nursery room when were not around to avoid this.

Anyways..here is a photo of her today. I kid you not...this is how I found her...

She still won't eat anything but her old food (friskas)...so that's what she gets because we don't want her to starve herself and the kittens. Though she is eating about half the amount she used to.
I know it's not a good enough diet but I feel like I've tried everything to intice her (premium kitten food/natural wet food/canned tuna/ham etc) She just sniffs it all, makes a sound of disgust while flicking her tongue and turns away. It's so strange because just a couple weeks ago she was ravenous and would eat anything.
Should I syringe feed her something? I feel like that would just stress her out. It was nearly impossible for her to down the wormers before.

Her poops are back to normal...no more soft poops.

Not knowing when this birth will happen is killing me!

She'll be fine! Feed her what she will eat. Their food consumption sometimes slows at the end as there is little room left, so small amounts more frequently work better.

Hang in there! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Shes beautiful! My cat had 3 babies nearly two weeks ago now and I couldn't stop looking at her belly either lol. She definitely looks bigger than my cat did. I wonder how many she'll have?? I know the waiting is agonising but when it does happen it's amazing. Our cat gave birth in front of us in the middle of the living room. Good luck!

Second week after the ultrasound...still waiting...
Her mammaries seem quite large and saggy (especially the first set of rear ones...you can kinda see in the photo) however her nipples have remained tiny the whole time. No milk leakage yet. Come on babies!! [emoji]128547[/emoji][emoji]128525[/emoji]

The nipples will become more prominent once milk comes in and the kittens are nursing. She's getting there! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Anxious!! Just heard Marg screaming to see a tiny kitten wiggling out... she just had her first kitten! It took her a while to notice it. I had to break the sack abd stimulate it. It is alive and squeeking a little. She is cleaning it but the cord is still attached and the placenta is still inside. Wow! Seems out of no where!

Stay calm, and thanks for helping with the sac and getting it breathing. Placenta should be out soon; however, you can pinch off the cord yourself about an inch from the baby's naval if you wish.

First born alive dark color with stripes 9:56am

How long should I wait before I cut the cord? Oh...she just did as I typed this. I guess I'm more anxious than the cat.

When should it start feeding. It's looking for the nipple and is the general area. Marg is relaxed and letting it search for the nipple. It doesn't seem to latch on yet.
