So it's been a few busy days. I've bought a flea comb and am trying to manage the fleas that way. I has gone to the vet (as that was the only place around here to buy advantage) After telling her my cat had just had kittens she said there was no point in buying it, I can't use it on my nursing cat or around the kittens, that my only hopes right now are to bath mom kitty in dawn dish soap and comb the fleas off her and the kittens. :'(

I disagree. Plenty of us use Advantage II on nursing moms. A tube on mom's neck will not harm her or the kittens, and will kill the fleas on all of them. Flea anemia is a real hazard.

Can you order it online?

The information this vet gave me on the advantage is completely different then what the actual company advertises. So I have to admit I'm confused! I'll see about ordering it online I'm just worried about it taking forever to get here! Maybe I'll try stopping at another vet and get a second opinion! What are the symptoms of anaemia? The kittens seem healthy I'm just worried.

You can get Advantage II from places other than a vet. Amazon delivers in 2 days. Walmart also sells Advantage II, as do pet stores in the U.S. Make sure it is Advantage II for cats made by Bayer.

Flea anemia causes lethargy and failure to thrive. Fleas cause tape worms, and scratching which can lead to sores.

I called all the pet stores around here with no luck! I'm in New Brunswick, Canada! I will check Walmart before ordering online. This combing the fleas out is for the birds lol. I'm fighting a losing battle!
