My cat was just diagnosed today she has feline leukemia. She is 6 years old and was 2 years old when i adopted her. She never showed signs till now and she was an outdoor cat, it was either she was born with it(wouldnt the humane society tell you or test first?) or what im thinking it is she got it from another cat outside. She is sleeping all day. Will barely eat or drink. She walks with a little wobble and doesn't want to walk at all. When i hold her she lets me and just lays down in my arms(she would let me hold her just never layed down like she was exhausted ). I do not know what to do, ive never been in this sort of situation before. I dont have much money to be doing all sorts of tests or vaccinations. I hate the fact of euthanize being a question. I just dont know if she is at the end. I dont know how long she's has had it. She s been active and the past week she isn't. Any suggestions?

She wouldnt really say. She went towards more euthanizing. But she was in between on her answer. She was giving me papers for snake oil stuff, but she said it was probably a waste of money to try.

Definitely tall to your vet about options.

My cat, Chance, died of cancer 8 months from his diagnosis. We did chemo for 6 months, driving him the 80 mile round trip to the clinic once a week. Three pills, twice a day. Two surgeries to remove growths. I probably spent a good $8-10k and I only paid for half (I split it with my Mom). I have no regrets, he was only 8 or 9 years old and he was my baby. That said, if I had to do it again I'd just do surgery to remove the lump and give him the pain pills and, I think it was, a steroid to slow the growth. I can't say that the discomfort he had going through the treatment was worth the time he gained from it. And while that is my hindsight I can't say I wouldn't do everything in my power if Link or Rocket were in the same boat.

It's a really hard choice. Having been there, be honest with your vet about what you can afford and what your concerns are. Care Credit is amazing (as long as you pay it off before the interest catches you). I'm hesitant to euthinize just because the vet recommends it without some deep thought. I know my cats better than the vet and as long as I can honestly say they are having good days and not in pain I will wait in the euthanasia but when the time comes you'll know it. I still remember the moment after 10 years that I knew it was time to let Chance go over the Rainbow bridge. Follow your heart.

Is she playing? Eating? Do the good days outnumber the bad? If it was you in her spot what would you want? It's tough and know you are not alone. Prayers are with you and please post any questions so the community can help however you need it.
