Hey there. Does anyone here know of a good L-Carnitine brand I can get that's safe for cats to eat? I cant seem to find any that're marketed for cats, so I assume I need to get a people version. Or are people supplements not safe for cats to eat? I'm having a pain of a time trying to find info about this passed it'll help boost metabolism and prevent bad things from happening to a chunky kitty's liver during a diet. Not really anything about what's best to buy. Thanks to anyone who can help!

Are you looking to help your cat lose some weight? If so, a supplement isn't necessary. You just need to feed your cat the appropriate amount of calories for his ideal body weight and, if the weight loss needed is more than a pound, very slowly reduce calories to prevent fatty liver disease. Excercise wil also help. Here's a web site with good info: http://catinfo.org/?link=felineobesity

Before giving your cat any supplement, even if it's one specifically for pets, always check with the vet first. Some supplements may do more harm than good and if you use a Human supplement, a cat dosage will be much much smaller than the Human dosage listed on the package. Only a vet will be able to recommend the proper cat dose of a Human supplement and amke sure that the supplement is safe to give.
