Territorial cat?

Hi! so long story short I took in a stray that is pregnant. Afterwards, I'm gonna get her spayed. Anyways. I have another cat in the household and whenever (I'm gonna refer to her as stray) scratches on the scratching post, my other cat charges her. And she's the one that growls and hisses at her. If the stray comes near my other cat, that's when she'll do the growling and hissing. She also chases off cats that come near our house. Is this being territorial? and how can I make her more accepting with new kitty?

You should probably give the pregnant cat her own room and territory if you can.  An only cat female (your existing cat) is often territorial and scratching posts are "scent trees" and cats are often very possessive of those. Litter boxes are also personal.  This new girl needs to have her own territory -- a study, a spare bedroom, somewhere the door can be closed with her inside with her own litter, food bowls, perhaps cat bed and scratching post.  It would be best if the room has a closet as that will be the best place for the babies to be born, a natural "cave" which you can fix up for her.  Both cats would benefit from a clear designation of boundaries to start with, and the poor little pregnant girl really does need a place of her own to feel safe to have her babies in.

Thank you for your response! I guess I've already got this stuff down. After I posted this, they've been getting along better more significantly. At first, the territorial one didn't want to be anywhere near her, but now she'll come close to sniff the pregnant one. She'll still hiss and growl occasionally, but I think there's been a huger improvement then before.

My mom said she's been acting weird all day and also when you feel her belly you are

able to feel the kittens moving and kicking inside. I've read that this usually means it's about a

week or two before she gives birth. And just recently, I saw something white drop from her "birthing area"

and she was laying with her back/butt kind of in the air.

She has been sniffing a lot, so perhaps she was looking for somewhere to rest?

PS. She was a stray that's how she is pregnant, she will be spayed afterwards. Only when it's

appropriate and the kittens are done feeding from her.

Have you made a nest for her in a quiet place?

How long have you had her?

Can you post a picture of her?

It's hard to say how close she is to giving birth. How long have you been seeing kitten movement?

She has a box in the garage and there's also a bunch of other places she likes to lay in there. We keep her in there till she's officially house broken, so she sleeps in there at night with food and water and her litter box. We've had her for a month she got out for like two weeks and before that I suspected she was pregnant by her belly. I think I started really feeling them maybe about 3 weeks ago? here's a picture.

Here's after she's rested on the floor. It seems as if her babies adjusted after a minute. So her belly looks smaller. (Sorry for not editing my post, idk how on mobile)

And another question! haha, so my cat did this a few times, and at first I thought it was probably just her

marking her territory. But as she gets further into her pregnancy i've been seeing her doing this more frequently and

in particular places.

What she does is, she'll scratch (not on her scratching post) but inside one of the boxes, which caused the carpeting inside

to be ripped up. And then, I found her going under my dresser where there's a little cubby hole, and she'll scratch inside there as well.

She scratched under the dresser a few times, but she does it quite a lot inside her cat tower.

Is she nearing the time of labor?

So I noticed my cat licking her genitals a lot today. And she's been hiding under my blanket which she never does. I go out in the hall and she stops in her tracks to lick her genitals and I notice a bloody mucus coming from her. And she left a wet spot on the carpet. (Her water broke?) she's also been a lot more affectionate than usual, although she is pretty affectionate in general, it seems to be a lot more today. I'm just scared because some sites say that it could be her kitten inside her may have died?

As far as I know she's a month. She is more than likely a lot more in than a month because when we got her she was a stray. And she already had a noticeable bulge back then. I noticed the bulge sometime in August.

It sounds like she may be laboring. If you noticed a bulge in August, it would be time for kittens to be born.

How is she doing now?

She's doing alright now. There was a little bit of mucus like blood hanging from her lady part but she licked it off. Now she's laying on my lap with a blanket cause she refuses to go on her box. She doesn't seem to be in pain or trying to push so I'm not sure? @sarthur2

Labor takes time. It could even be a day or two. She sounds close though, and is seeking comfort from you.

Keep us posted.

UPDATE: She was taken to a shelter to have her kittens, if she is chipped I don't think I'm allowed to take her back. (Unless, owners don't want her) reason being because, we can't support the kittens enough to have them here. And it wasn't fair for my cat to be in the garage all that time till she birthed. Only because she had liquids and stuff coming from her. So, if she is chipped, I can just take one of her kittens if her owner wants her. (If she has an owner)

It's great that she is now in a place where she can get excellent care, get spayed, and her kittens will find good homes.
