Today I took my beautiful siamese kitten to be neutered. He is 5 months old. 23 weeks exact. They weighed him and he is only 3.6 pounds. I expected him to weigh more he is big for a kitten to me and as big or bigger than some cats i see around. He looks as if he weighs a lot more. Does anyone know if he may be underweight? He looks very healthy but I just want to make sure my baby is well taken care of.

missautumn73,

Your kitten at this age seems a little underweight to me. Is he eating well? Are you feeding him kitten's food? As he is still growing, he needs lots of protein which is found in kitten's food. Feed him as much as he can eat and should be feeding him several times a day.

Did the vet mention anything about his weigh? He has a clean bill of health?

Do post photos of him please ;)

Beside proteins, kittens needs also quite a some of fat.   but if he looks healthy and behaves healthy so he does.

If his siamese ancestry is fresh or even purebred, siameses tend to be slender, even gracile if purebred. Its not the usual meat on the bones as is expected with most other cats.

That does seem a little underweight to me too, but as was said above, Siamese tend to be thin anyway. As long as he is eating as much as he wants and is energetic, he should be OK. A picture would definitely help as we could look at his bone structure and see how he looks overall. (besides we all LOVE pictures!)
