Hey everyone!
I have an indoor calico named marceline, she's a little over a year and I've noticed that for the past three days she's had a bad limp. The first two days I decided to watch over it and see if she got better. Well starting today, she won't put any weight on it, and when she does she seems to drop down on it, as though it can't take the weight. She's still eating and drinking food, going potty in the litter box still, so I know that's good news. For a second I felt as though she was trying to drag the foot, which is a totally bad sign, but she's currently laying down and I have seen her stretch the foot out a bit. Stiffly, but still a stretch of the foot. I also lightly touched around the foot and hind leg, I think it feels a bit warm on the back of the leg, but she didn't react to me touching the leg at all. I'm really worried, and I have called my vet to set up an appointment for tomorrow evening. I'm wondering what you guys think? I'm hoping it's just a sprain, she's an indoor cat who really stays in my bedroom since she's so shy, so it's not like she got hit by a car or anything. Any tips or ideas on what you think I should do is greatly appreciated!

Is she the only cat in the house? If not she may have been hurt when playing with the other kitty (if you have one that is?).

Is there any way she could have sprained it by running/jumping around the house, as usually young kitties like your girl have a lot of energy and sometimes they go a little crazy and go zooming around the house.

Other than those 2 explanations I have no clue how she could have hurt herself.

I am glad you are taking her to the vet tomorrow though, you will soon know for sure what is wrong and why she is favoring that leg.

She's a high energy kitty at night, so my guess is that she has hurt herself from running around like a crazy girl in the house. I have a much older kitty (16-17 years old) and the most she does is a light swipe to marceline, her top canines have fallen out this year as well, so I don't think my senior kitty could have gotten to her. I'm really hoping it's just a sprain, her appointment is tomorrow afternoon, I'm goIng to try to keep her contained in my room till then so she just rests and doesn't try to roam around again. I feel so bad for her, hopefully the vet will bring us decent news!
