Cuddles was 13 years old, lived with me since she was age 2. She has been battling renal disease and then renal failure for some time.  I was able to find some photos of her young and healthy! Last Thursday this formerly 11 pound girl was down to 5 pound 6 ounces, and today she was quite a bit less.

I'm so sorry for you loss of your darling Cuddles. You fought for her and loved her thru her illness and she loves you for that. Cuddles is no longer sick and in pain and is running free over the Rainbow Bridge. Take comfort in knowing she is at peace.

Even though we know in our hearts that the end is near, we are never prepared for that final moment when our loved ones leave us. You had that beautiful girl in your life for eleven years, it takes a long time to try to accept the emptiness in our homes and our hearts.  You did not allow her to suffer, the care and love you gave her is a testament to her living so long with such a horrible disease. She would never want you to spend overlong in pain and sorrow at her passing, she loved you too much for that, and only wants the future to hold happiness and sunshine for you, as you would want for her if you were the one to leave. Let the love she left you fill your heart and your precious memories bring you comfort. She was so much more then a mere cat,  she was a companion, a friend, and and a member of your family. She never turned away when you needed someone, she brought you joy and distraction from life's worries with her beautiful face and  loving eyes. She will be remembered forever as she so richly deserves, and the bond you have formed will allow you to send each other the love that will never die. Cuddles is no longer a part of this physical world, but the  'essence'  that is what made her Cuddles will be with you for the rest of your life. She will live on as long as you remember her. Surround yourself with people who understand the pain you are going through, it helps to share the burden of grief so that it does not become overwhelming. Take care of yourself.........RIP sweet Cuddles, the love and affection you gave can never be duplicated, you were a one of a kind in the world of felines. Know you will be missed dearly on this earth and will forever be held in a loving heart!

I'm so sorry for your loss. She was so beautiful. I can see why you called her Cuddles. Just from that picture, I want to hold her close and give her lots of Cuddles. :hugs:

She is free of pain and illness now. She is whole and healthy again. She will always love you and she will watch over you from the bridge. You gave her 11 years of love and friendship and the bond that youi have with her is forever. I know it's hard. No matter how long we get with them it is never enough. Please take good care of yourself right now. Allow yourself time to grieve. we are here for you. :alright:

RIP Cuddles. You will never be forgotten. :rbheart::angel:

Thank you so much for taking the time to post.  It does help.  Today, I've called every cat "Cuddles" at least once, and even one of the dogs.  Obvious what's on my mind.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Hugs
to you. Cuddles was gorgeous! I know the pain you're feeling. On Tuesday I had to say goodbye to my sweet Jumbo as well. He was in a similar situation. My former stray was once a very large cat, but shrunk down to a tiny little cat from ckd or cancer in the last year. He was probably very old, but I only got to know him about 5 years. I haven't felt this sad in a very long time.

Thank you all.  What a change in the household routine, now I don't have to segregate her for the prescription food twice a day.  And even the regular food, she must have been eating that too as what I use to put down in the evening and find gone is now left over in the mornings.

CatMinion Jess, I am sorry on the loss of your Jumbo.

Freedom, it is odd getting back to the previous routine after so long. Jumbo never got along with the 2 cats I already had (or they didn't get along with him) so I always had to separate him from them when I wasn't home or was sleeping. I would feed them in the kitchen and him my computer/cat room. Now I fix their bowls and am like, oh yeah I'm done now. At least they are readjusting and in the last few days have started hanging out in some of the spots they'd been avoiding because they were his spots. I still miss lap time with him though.
