we have a older male cat, who was have a problem going, lol, outside, with blood passing,,

ok
member of family decide to take cat off the fiskies cat food with the cat love and put him on this watham s o ph control cat food
problem is i do not agree
i find nothing wrong with feeding the fiskies cat food to him as it suppose to be urine ph avg 6.0 6/4 and state on can that this formulation result in the production of slighly acidic urine, which can help in maintain urinary tract health, and i thought that was a good thing

so i thing he take it way to far

I think it depends on what kind of crystals your cat is getting... acidic urine can cause struvite crystals to form especially in older cats however alkaline food can cause calcium oxalate crystals. I guess the question is do you know what type of crystals your cat has?

Friskies is probably not the best food for this cat, and changing the food to lower the alkaline would be a cautious thing to do. There are so many new blends of food out there to help catowners who deal with this problem on a regular basis. Tell you friend what might also be very helpful is invest in a drinkwell fountain to encourage this cat to take on more liquids.
