my 4 month old kitten Penelope Garcia got spayed a few days ago. She stayed overnight at the hospital and I picked her up the next morning I brought her home and everything seemed to be going great she had a drink of water ate some of her food Peed pooped right away but after about two days she stopped eating as much show maybe take a bite then she doesn't seem interested and she'll take a few sips of water and then walk away when normally she's a really good drinker. I am pretty concerned about her she doesn't seem to be herself and though she will occasionally Play she is not her active hyper self anymore and I don't know what to do and if I should be worried she seemed to be getting thinner and she is just under 4 pounds to begin with so I don't want her to get any smaller

How is the incision? I would worry about the possiblity of an infection or something. or maybe a secondary problem like she's coming down with something.

She may have picked up an upper respiratory infection from the stress of the vet and the surgery.  I'd get her to the vet for a check up.

The incision looks really good we have kept it clean and dry and it doesn't look red or inflamed at all it looks like it's healing nicely

In that case, I would definitely worry more about something like a URI or another illness she could have picked up at the vet. Have you tried tempting her with really smelly food or her favorite flavors?

Agree with the other comment, offer her some very enticing wet food, maybe even some tuna (as a treat only).

You might also try some plain meat baby food, chicken or turkey.  This always is a favorite of my kitties when they're under the weather a bit.  If she doesn't start eating tonight, she needs to get to the vet in the morning.  Kittens can go downhill quickly, even older kittens.

If she has no other infection, she should be back to her old tricks soon. It can take a week to ten days for females to feel 100% again.

I agree that tempting her with meat baby food and tuna are a good idea. Her appetite should return soon!

Exactly my thoughts, chicken or turkey baby food warmed up with a bit of water added is usually pretty irresistible, and tuna with the juice is also excellent.

Sometimes they will have a longer time of shaking that anesthesia from their systems, which can also cause an upset tummy, so keep a watchful eye on her and contact the vet if you see anything else, or if she doesn't start improving soon, or gets worse.

My kitten wasn't doing so well and I had to feed her chicken baby food. She loved it! I would go with the brand Beach Nut because Gerber has corn starch in their baby food.

Maybe yea, try baby food and if that doesn't work, take her to the vet.

That was my first thought, too.  Loss of appetite after spaying is not normal so I'd certainly keep an eye on her AND the incision site.  I hope she was sent home with pain meds, too.  We give 3 days of pain meds at our shelter for spayed females.

Watch the incision site.  It should be normal looking, not pink or red or hot or smelly.  Run, don't walk back to the vet if this does not improve quickly.  Offer really smelly cat food (I use Fancy Feast fish and shrimp) or even some tuna on top of the food (just to get her eating again, not as a full meal).

She may have started feeling the pain after two days. You may want to start keeping some L-lysine on hand, it builds up the immune system and is great for respiratory ailments. My Chrissy took spaying really hard, she hardly moved for a week, and didn't eat or drink enough to keep a tiny kitten alive.  You have to get your little one to eat SOMETHING, offer something really unusual like Kentucky Fried Chicken, most cats can't resist it. As long as she is drinking and eating a little, she will get better. Some cats feel the pain more then others, and keep in mind not all cats go through this. My little stray female I had spayed last fall didn't miss a beat in her life, so what you are going through, while not unusual, is not unheard of either. I truly pray she is feeling better now.  Please keep us posted.
