My female turkish angora Ruby is 12 years old, and a few day ago he stopped eating. She is on a diet and blue buffalo grain-free wet cat food.

She still eats treats.

She has lost a pound since she stopped eating, she has also stopped pooping, but has been peeing a lot. We adopted her early August, and she was eating fine. The shelter tried to get us to feed her purina, but we slowly got her on blue buffalo healthy gourmet indoor at chicken flavor. After discovering that grain free was better, we switched to blue buffalo wilderness for mature cats and freedom blue buffalo for mature cats. I have two flavors, chicken and salmon. She has been eating fine for the last month, but just suddenly stopped 5 days ago. As previously stated, she has lost a pound (she was 11 pounds and is now 10 pounds).

Please help ASAP! Otherwise we will bring her to the emergency vet tomorrow which costs a fortune!

I know you don't want to hear it, but I truly think you need to take her to the vet.  Any cat who stops eating for a period of time is at risk for fatty liver disease, and at your cat's age she may even be more susceptible.  Others will chime in though.

You really do have to get her to the vet asap. It sounds like there may be something seriously wrong here :( The first possibilities that come to mind are diabetes and kidney disease. I really hope I'm wrong, but the sooner these are diagnosed or ruled out, the better - and neither are diseases you want to take ANY chances with. I really hope you find out whats going on with yourgirl soon :cross::vibes:

Do let use know what the vet says. [article="32998"][/article][article="33011"][/article][article="32358"][/article][article="29708"][/article]

When was the last time she was worked up at the vet? 12 year olds are very susceptible to both hyperthyroidism and CKD, both which could cause weight loss and appetite issues. Please get her to a vet for a full work up.

If a cat stops eating you Must take them in to the vet cause after 2 days their body starts attacking their liver and it will start to shut down!!! Its a critical situation that may not be reversable if you waited too long. Sorry for the bad news, my cat went through it :(
Goid luck!

Please CALL the vet as soon as they are open tomorrow and at least talk to the vet about your cat's symptoms. Most likely the vet will schedule an a ppointment for your cat to be seen as quickly as possible. Your  cat's inappetance but peeing a lot is very concerning and can indicate any number of health conditions. The sooner your cat is seen by the vet and treated, the easier and quciker it will be to get the health condition under control and perhaps even resolve it.

The vet ER is always an option even though they are expensive. Many have payment plans or other forms of financial aid. You can also look into the organizations here: http://www.thecatsite.com/a/no-money-for-vet-care-how-to-find-help-and-save-your-cats-life

Consider setting aside money every week / month / etc to use for vet bills and / or look into pet insurance. Pets get sick unexpectantly and usually at a time when only the expensive vet ER is open

Keep force feeding your cat watered down canned cat food. If it's easier, use an oral syringe instead of a spoon. You can get one at any Human pharmacy. They should be in the OTC cough / cold aisle alongside pill cutters, baby oral dosing spoons, etc or just ask the pharmacist. Pet stores also have kitten / puppy feeding syringes.

I started syringe feeding her, and today just about an hour ago she finished half a bowl and watered down food! literally so exited! She also passed a perfect stool just a few mins ago! I will talk to my vet over the phone tomorrow and see when I can bring her in to get her checked out
