Awesome that the kitten has a home now! I have been meaning to ask how the kitten was doing. Do you know the adopter personally?

It sounds like mom and babies are doing well. Do try to supplement two times a day when you can, and more on the weekend, especially with the smallest ones.

I know you need to catch up on your school work and your sleep. You have gone above and beyond to help your cat family. I commend you!

Please keep us posted as your time permits! [emoji]128571[/emoji]

Thanks! Haha, yes, she was exhausted. Especially with the second one getting stuck for so long and the infection and all that. She's eating but not much. She wants fish I think, because mom fed her fish once. Regardless, I won't be giving her any of that [emoji]128517[/emoji]

She can have plain, boiled chicken and bone broth, and cooked liver. Also, full-fat yogurt, and chopped, boiled eggs.

Does she drink the KMR?

How are the kittens today? [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Yes, the adopter is a close friend of mine. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

I am supplementing twice a day 3 ml each time (they won't really take more, they barely take 3 ml).

Today I got back from school and mom said she'd once walked in and saw the kittens scattered around the living room and the other time she wouldn't find the gray one and ended up finding up tucked underneath the couch, where it absolutely should not be. Whenever she sees me she meows for me and leads me to her kittens. And whenever she sees or hears me or my mom while she's nursing them she suddenly gets up and meows for us and walks aimlessly around, she doesn't seem to want to be with them. I helped her a few times yesterday by leading the kittens to her nipples, I thought today she was just asking me to help her again, but she keeps walking out of the cat house and toward me when she sees me. I'm trying not to go there too much but I need to check on them because she sits on them without noticing sometimes and I wanna make sure they're all feeding, since she isn't eating THAT much and her milk still isn't 100% as in as it should be.

Thank you so much again! You helped so much, I couldn't have done this without you. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

She doesn't want the boiled chicken, I'll try yogurt. She does drink the KMR. I'm scared to overfeed her KMR, could she get diarrhea?

Yes, she can get diarrhea from too much KMR. Just one dish a day for the calcium. If she has had diarrhea already, it may be from eating the placentas. All cats eat them, and they are nutritious, but too many can cause diarrhea. Her antibiotics can also cause diarrhea.

Your supplementing is purr-fect! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Mom's appetite should pick up soon, unless the antibiotics are upsetting her tummy.

Is there a blanket in the cat house for the kittens? Is there room for mom to stretch out fully while she is nursing?

Do you think mama kitty might prefer the privacy of your bedroom by moving the cat house in there?

Sometimes it takes new moms a few days to truly settle into motherhood, but most prefer private, dark spaces for their kittens. They tend to move them around otherwise, which is not good for the kittens as they must stay warm to eat and digest properly. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

There is a snuggly blanket and there's enough room for her to stretch out and nurse them or sleep next to them. The cat house is dark and private, I don't understand why she doesn't like it. She has now tried to move them 4 times in the past few hours, and every time she sees me she starts to meow. I don't get what's happening to her. This is irritating and worrisome. I can't keep watching them like this just to make sure she doesn't hurt them while moving them or put them somewhere cold. I'll try getting her a box and putting the blanket there but I really don't get her behavior and excessive meowing every time she sees me or my mom.

Could she not like the house because she gave birth to two of her kittens in it? Mom washed and cleaned it while I had them taken to the vet. I don't know.

And I can't move her into my bedroom because mom made it clear she's not to come into the bedrooms until she gets vaccinated again after weaning her kittens.

Cats in the wild instinctively move their kittens away from the place of birthing so they do not attract predators with the birthing blood smells.

Obviously, there are no wild predators in your home, and the cat house has been cleaned, but she may simply feel that she needs a new box in a different corner of the room. Her cat instincts are driving her.

Try a new box with a cover. Some people cut an opening in a box as a door for mom, and cover the top with a sheet or towel.

I agree she needs to settle in. Hopefully, she will soon!

Okay, I'll try to move her cat house into a more private corner. If it doesn't work and she remains distressed, I'll get her a new box. Thanks!

Today when I got home she wasn't sitting with them and she had a high temperature and was breathing quickly. I gave her the antibiotic and it got almost instantly better. She needs to take 2 ml a day for 10 days. I hope the infection clears up by then and doesn't endanger her life or anything.

Oh, my! That's not good. What antibiotic is she taking? Did the vet say what kind of infection she has?

This is concerning, and may explain her behavior of not being with her kittens so much.

No, he didn't. Just said that it would cause her some fever occasionally. But as I said, it cleared up as soon as she took the antibiotic. She's completely fine now and I played with her a bit to get her energy up and get her to eat, and she ate the boiled chicken we gave her (thank god). The vet said her infection was minor though so I think she'll be fine. (Trying to keep my hopes up because I don't have any more money [emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128299[/emoji])

Her antibiotics are called Suprax 100.

She just moved a kitten under the couch again. This is exhausting. Mom is going out soon and will get her a new box. If she moves them again I think I'll just scream.

I notice that whenever she nurses them she starts breathing quicker than usual. Is that normal? Could it have to do with the fact that she nurses them inside the kitten house where it may be hot for her?

I called the vet and asked, he said to get her Profinal made for children and give her 2 ml every 12 hours for 4 days, aside from her antibiotics.

I'm hoping the new box will solve the problem with her moving her kittens.

The antibiotic is a good one!

Sometimes nursing causes moms to pant because the body is working hard. The panting should ease up as soon as her body adjusts. It also may feel warm to her in the cat house.

It's good to hear that she ate her chicken. [emoji]128077[/emoji]

She will be okay. I think she needs a couple more days to settle down.

Be careful with the Profinal. It is ibuprofin. It will reduce her fever, but ibuprofin can also damage a cat's liver. Give it sparingly. You can use Google to read about it so you know.

Would a dosage of 2 ml every 12 hours hurt her?

The 2 mL is a small dose. Since it is prescribed by the vet, it should be safe. If your cat vomits, do not give it again and call the vet.

There are other prescription meds for pain that the vet can give that are safer.

Ibuprofin can be toxic to cats. I would not give it. It may pass to her kittens through her milk.

Perhaps consult the vet again? Maybe I am being too conservative.

I gave her only 1.5 ml because her fever was high and she was freaking out and moving the cats, and the vet was closing last time I called him. She has calmed dowm and sat down to nurse them. I will re-consult the vet tomorrow. I hope her fever calms down enough so that I don't have to use it again.

Sorry, I read this after I'd already gotten Profinal and given it to her. I hope it doesn't harm her or the kittens. And I really hope she stops moving them already. I just need some time to study and this is getting extremely frustrating [emoji]128533[/emoji]

It should be okay. The literature I read says that small doses for a short period of time will be okay for cats. And you are using the one for children, which is mild.

Continue to give her the next dose in 12 hours if she still has fever.

She's moving them because she doesn't feel secure in her nest and also because she doesn't feel well. Is there a closet that you could put the best in? Leaving the door ajar, of course.

Cheetos needs surgery or she'll die. She was bleeding from her behind today. I don't have 250$. I'm crying and I don't know what to do.
