Thanks @sarthur2! Just one hiss today, Miss Jo scared Sparrow by going by him a little too fast
We got some swatting yesterday, but none that I saw today.

I can't help myself, here are some more videos!

EDIT : SO was filming the last one, all he had to do was point, but he likes to think he's David Lynch or something...

Very nice! [emoji]128571[/emoji]

Is that an enclosed courtyard in the last video so there is no chance of escape?

Yes it is. Walls all around, high enough that they shouldn't be able to climb them. But they're never outside without supervision.

She ALWAYS does that it's hilarious! We find that toy in her plate of wet food, in the dry food bowl,...

Day 7 : They played together!!! They were chasing each other up and down the stairs, and around the house. That was really fun to watch. I'm happy for them, they seem to really like each other. They are now sleeping of course. But not together. Maybe someday soon?

Sorry if I missed this, but is she fully vaccinated?

No she is not, she's going to the vet next month, but will not be vaccinated I think. The association doesn't have the money to vaccinate and spay/neuter, so they chose to spay/neuter.

I would not let her outside at all until she is vaccinated. There are all sorts of nasties she can get out there.

That was a decision we made with the association. The courtyard is very small, as is our apartment. Letting her outside supervised just made sense even tho she's not vaccinated yet.

I don't have a lot of work to do with Josephine, she's already socialized with cats and humans. She lets me trim her front claws, brush her coat, touch her paws. The only thing left that I can think of is climbing on legs. And she already does it less. Am I missing something? Maybe carrier "training" so that she's not afraid of going in it. Any ideas are welcome, I want her to have the best chance of being adopted.

EDIT : She's awesome with litter box. She likes to have one for pee and one for poop. I have 3 total. She never went outside the box She doesn't scratch furniture or rugs, she uses a big vertical scratching post. She sometimes tries to play with hands, but we redirect her immediately on a toy, and that's that.

That's what I think too! My mom is quickly falling in love with her, and even if she still hasn't decided, I don't think Josephine will wait long for her furever home. She's cute, funny, playful, curious, very well behaved for a kitten, she's the perfect first foster IMHO.

I'm waiting to hear from the rescue if they are going to use the pics for her adoption page or not. I hope they do.

On the weight front, yesterday she was at 1.440 Kg. She gained 200 gr in 8 days. Is that too much??

Food wise, I had to stop the probiotics yesterday. I didn't read the label as carefully as I should have, and it's full of milk and soy. Poor kitties were having soft, very smelly poop, and the only change was the probiotics. Poops look and smell much better today.

She needed the weight gain! Since she's about 3.5 months old, she needs to weigh about 3.5 pounds, so the gain of 200 grams was excellent, as she came to you underweight. She's right where she needs to be now!

Kittens need to gain a pound a month until they are at least 6 months old.

It's good you stopped the probiotics. Please get some that do not contain milk and soy to have on hand.

I'm sure she will be adopted quickly! I see how your mom is falling in love with her! Might you keep her?

I would love to keep her, but financially it's not possible for now, and that would mean stop fostering. As hard as it's going to be, we will let her go when she's adopted. If she's not, then we will of course keep her. I'm not letting this kitty without a home!

Well, that was quick. Josephine is up for adoption! I already have one person interested, two hours after the news was official.

I didn't think I would take it so hard. It's really not easy, I knew it going in, but ... wow. I didn't think I would have to deal with that that fast. Wasn't ready AT ALL. I think Josephine knows. She kept demanding to be petted last night. Made things even more difficult. I have no idea how to do this. And what about Sparrow? How is he going to react when she's gone? Is there anything I can do for him?

Anyway, the couple interested doesn't want two cats, and work long hours except week ends. Josephine would be alone for most of the time without a companion. I'm going to talk to them, but I'm thinking no. The rescue told me to take my time and find her the funniest option for her. They are really amazing. They loved my videos BTW! They are using them to "promote" Josephine.

Ah, well, the couple who works all the time may be better off with an older cat that needs a home. Older cats are more sedentary.

Seems Josephine needs a family with folks around all the time. Are you sure you want to part with her? I know it's the hardest part of fostering! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

I'm calling the couple tonight, but you are right, I will suggest an older cat.

About Jo, I love her very much already, and SO too, but they are other cats that needs homes, I think we will be so much more useful to them if we can foster. If we keep her, we have to stop fostering. The rescue loses foster families all the time. I will find her the best home, and then help the next kitty in need. I feel better than this morning, it was so sudden I was completely lost and confused!
